Top 5 WRs going into 2006 (1 Viewer)

As mentioned, there is way too much turnover at the top 5 year after year.

The only guys I feel comfortable saying will probably be there (barring injury) are Holt and Chad (maybe Owens if he goes to a team that doesn't have a rookie QB).

Seems like a crapshoot for the other two or three.
Why do you feel Smith is less of a lock? Over the past couple years, the Panthers have been the wr equivilant of the Chiefs/Broncos to running backs. Whoever is the number one receiver in Carolina will have a big year.
Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying Smith won't continue to put up stellar numbers. He's too good not to.But top 5 is a big hurdle, and even a slight dropoff in receptions/TDs can keep him out of the top 5. This could result from an even stronger defense/even more dominant runnng game/better 2nd WR option, etc. There are lots of factors at work that can work against WR production - nothing to do with talent.

I just see Holt, Chad, Owens having done it year after year with different surrounding talent, which is why I view them to as close to a lock as one can get.

My picks:

1) Larry Fitzgerald - Kurt Warner and Josh McCown are putting up massive statistics throwing to him and Boldin. Boldin is great but Fitzgerald gets the red-zone looks.

2) Steve Smith - the number one player on his offense, Jake keys in him early and often because he is a studddd.

3) Marvin Harrison - still at the top of his game, as long as he has Peyton I expect fantasy production out of him. Reggie isn't supplanting him where the money is made, in red-zone.

4) Santana Moss - proved this season how much of a gamebreaking threat he can be. This is also his first year in the system. I rank him at 4 but his upside is 1, depending on how many long TDs he can score each season.

5) Chad Johnson - at #5 he may seem low but he's still going to be a stud. I expect more TD production out of him next season, its blatantly obvious that he's capable.
A couple notes:When Fitz and Boldin play together, Boldin is the top target. Had Boldin not missed a couple games, he'd have better stats.

Also, you can't put Moss or Harrison over Holt. That's just not right.

In dynasty, your list wouldn't include Harrison at all.

A couple guys who could bust onto this list are a healthy D. Jackson, R. Moss, TO if he gets signed to a good situation, and your Lee Evans/Andre Johnson's in offenses that are even moderately effective.

1. Holt2. CJ3. S. Smith4. Fitz5. Harrison6. TO7. R. Moss8. Boldin9. D Jax10 gates- for leagues that TE is the same position as WR

awesome point here

Chad JohnsonTorry HoltLarry FitzSteve SmithStarvin Marvin-----------------Aquan BoldinTerrell Owens - really depends on situationSantana MossRandy Moss - if healthyCHAMBERS!

1) TO - He will be a monster next year if he lands in a decent situation, say Denver?. Think he will be pissed?2) Chad Johnson - You got to love the maturation of Palmer, and the chemistry the two of them enjoy.3) Torry Holt - He's there every year, why should 2006 be any different.4) Larry Fitzgerald - As long as his QB doesn't spoil it for him, he's way ahead of his timetable for Studlyness.5) Marvin fHarrison - Because he's Marvin Harrison.

Note to self: Unless everyone is assuming Favre retires, Javon Walker will be a significant value play next year.
Yes, Favre will retire next year. Either way the Knee has to be a mild concern and enough to knock him out of the top 10 IMO.

Also DJackson should be really good value if people forget to discount the injury, and actually extrapolate the numbers.
Four weeks and you project an entire season for Jackson? :loco: I think you need at least half a season if you're going to accurately do that kinda thing. Look at Marvin Harrison for the first four weeks of last year-if he had been hurt would you have expected him to stay on pace?
I didn't project anything - I said I thought he would be in the top 10 (I listed him last in my list) and hence would be a good value since he will probably slide in a fair amount of drafts. I think whoever is the #1 in Seattle will have value, and he should be the #1 barring anything unusual.

1. S.Smith, simply in too nice of a situation.

2. C.Johnson, could be #1.

3. S.Moss, showed he is a playmaker.

4. Holt, could be higher if we knew who the coach was.

5. Fitz, Arz will still need to pass a ton.

6. R.Moss, I can't wait to get him in the 3rd round like few years ago.

7. TO, need to know more about location to move him up.

8. Harrison, the wheels have to slow down sooner or later right?

9. D.Jax, will slide due to injury this year.

10. Chamber, this guys sick talent was finally seen by the rest of the world.

No consideration to Walker or does the injury thing scare you this far away that he is not mentioned in your top 15 WR's? My favourite list I have seen so far

I want to see how his recovery goes before ranking him in the top 15.

I would also think Favre's retirement question is valuable information as well.I just can't see Rodgers putting up gaudy passing stats like Favre does, in his first year as the starter, nonetheless.

I think Boldin is more on par with TO and Fitz is more on par with Holt. I would take TO(without the attitude) over Holt every day. The guy will get you the deep TD, the possession reception, and goal line TD.I'm not sure I understand why Fitz is ranked higher than Boldin on almost all of these rankings.

I find it curious that Boldin put up near identical stats in two less games, yet you rank Fitzgerald #1.
Fitz is younger (slightly) and Boldin has in injury history. I'd take Fitz over Boldin too but would be happy with either guy on my roster.

I'd replace Marvin with Holt. Just where they happen to be on the careeer curve.Santana? I'm not so sure. Long TDs are hard to duplicate. Defenses learn to adjust. I could see TO rounding out the top 5 if he lands in the right situation and gets his head on straight.

IMO we don't have enough evidence to say who will be the better fantasy guy next year out of these two. You could almost just flip a coin to see who will out produce the other guy in fantasy numbers. If Warner throws like he was throwing before he got hurt these guys will both be money again, even with an improved running game which will take away some targets.
