Top candidates for Titans General Manager? (1 Viewer)

Weapon of Mass Instruction

Watch my feet!
Fisher is Bud's guy. He's not going anywhere, despite the rumors and thoughts to the contrary. On the other hand, Reese is gone. As the song says, "Like a record made of wax, he's never coming back."

Who are, or should be, the top candidates?

The new guy will have $41mm under the cap and at least 10 draft picks to work with. Much of the "core" is pretty young. I think this is a pretty intriguing opportunity, despite the current status of the team.

** I also think there will be a staff mini-overhall with Schwartz (DC), Ray Sherman (WR), and Withers (Dbacks) gone.

It might be hard to get Fisher to stay under a new GM that might want his own guy. Does Fisher want to be a lame duck coach for a year?

As you say Fisher is going to have to get rid of some coordinators - but if he does he partially acknowledges that coaching (his responsibility) was not up to snuff.

Would Bud promote Fisher to a dual role and sign him to a long term contract? He'd better get a kick### capologist if that is the direction.

Would Fisher be interested in that? Would Bud show him the money?

Problem with cleaning the slate and kicking both to the curb is you acknowledge you are rebuilding ('duh) and the new guys has two grace years to perform.

The list of Titans' woes is long - 10 picks and 41 million might not provide a fast enough return no matter what.

if the lions lose to the Cards AND joey harrington on thanksgiving Matt Millen may FINALLY be available to other NFL teams. And probably most CFL franchises too.

This statement is surprising to me.Adams/Reese wanted to draft Young, Fisher/Chow wanted Leinart.Adams/Reese locked McNair out and eventually unloaded him, Fisher was caught by surprise at the time, tried to play mediator to some extent, and I'm sure was plenty pissed at the way things worked out (Volek, then Collins at the last minute, then Young earlier then planned). If I were Fisher I'd give Bud Adams the ol' Leon Washington sign and find an organization that respected my input. Eff Bud Adams.

Can't wait to see him leave. Good f'n riddance.

Maybe the Titans will re-focus on character with him no longer taking any thug off the street to try to help save his job.
