Hmmm... I logged in and couldn't find this. Is it listed in week 17 stuff?

QBs 1. Leinart2. Young (if he comes out)3. Cutler4. Jacobs5. McNeal6. NeeleyRBs1. Denagelo Williams2. Reggie Bush (#1 for most folks)3. Lendale WHite (if he comes out)4. Michael Bush5. L. MaroneyWRs1. Santonio Holmes2. Derek HAgen3. Martin nance4. Greg Jennings5. Steve Smith

It's tough to say at this point, but right now I'd rank things as follows:QB1. Matt Leinart - Not flawless, but seems like the best bet of this bunch2. Jay Cutler - Gaining steam3. Omar Jacobs (Jr.) - Weird delivery is a concern, but seems to have a lot of upside. Could be a particularly productive FF player if he pans out. 4. Vince Young - Good athlete, but I'm not convinced that he has the necessary passing skills5. Brodie Croyle Others to watch: Kellen Clemens, Brett BasanezI don't expect Brady Quinn to declare. RB.1. Reggie Bush - Untested as an inside runner, but too skilled not to pan out. Best case is another Faulk. Worst case is another Westbrook. I'll take those odds.2. LenDale White - Power back with quick feet. His game is tailor-made for the NFL. Could be the top FF back from this class. 3. Jerome Harrison - Could be a real steal as a third round pick. Is a bit undersized, but has a good burst and was extremely productive in a major conference. 4. DeAngelo Williams - I'm not nearly as impressed with him as most people are. Despite his reported size numbers, he looks small. He has good quickness, but he doesn't seem like a lock for NFL success to me.5. Laurence Maroney - Fast runner, but lacks power and may have been the product of a system. That said, he's a good athlete and he could move up this list in the coming months. Others to watch: Andre Hall, Mike Bush (Jr.), Leon Washington, Gerald Riggs, Lorenzo Booker (Jr.), Mike Bell I don't know enough about the WRs to say anything right now. These rankings are subject to change and probably will.

I did weeks 1-14, and the report cards are coming this week. Enjoy

I find your ranking of Jacobs ahead of Young interesting. Jacobs is untested under center and has some technical issues.Colin

Yea, but when I think of Jacobs as a prospect I think of him as a passer. When I think of Young I think of an athlete who happens to play QB. I have no doubt that Vince Young will be a high pick whenever he enters the draft, but I also think he comes with major bust risk. You have to love his size, elusiveness, arm strength, and athletic ability, but I don't know if there has ever been a less-accomplished passer with as much draft hype.

I don't have the stats handy, but I feel like even Mike Vick was a more prolific passer in college than Young.

It takes a lot to succeed as an NFL QB and I'm not sure that Young has the mental makeup to be a professional QB. He helped his case this year, but I'm still awfully wary of him.

Just for the sake of posterity, I'm going to go on the record here:Terrance Whitehead (RB Oregon) is going to be a legitimate Fantasy RB1/RB2 in the good ole NF of L...I know he didn't have the greatest game in the world tonight, but I've had an eye on this kid since about midseason last year (2004), and am very confident he has NFL caliber skills to make it, and make it big, at the next level. He has a legitimate size/speed combination, and has the ability to be effective in both aspects of the offense, as both a rusher and a receiver...I'll eventually follow this post with a more detailed analysis of why I feel the way I do, and I'm looking forward to what Bloom (who's opinions I respect immensely) has to say about him, but I'm just getting home from losing a pretty big play on Oregon in the Bowl Game tonight, and despite them coming up short, my opinion about Whitehead's skill set being highly transferrable to the NFL, and his potential for every-down status as a featured back has not changed...I don't expect him to get drafted in the first round, and perhaps even not in the second, but I think that he has extremely strong potential to outplay his draft position by a LARGE margin......and, as for now, that's all I have to say about that...

I'll play along, but this really depends on information we'll gather from the combine and draft. Situations will be key to fantasy projections.RBs1. Reggie Bush-- he's for real.2. DeAngelo Williams-- so is he.3. Jerome Harrison-- I've written quite a bit about him here.4. LenDale White-- whoever takes him will put him to use.5. I can't pick a fifth even though Maroney seems like the obvious choice. I rate him even in potential with several others-- Norwood, Whitehead, Washington, Addai, Hall... QBs1. Jay Cutler-- I think he'll be a star in a couple years2. Vince Young-- him too.3. Matt Leinart-- he'll get his shot, for sure.4. Reggie McNeal-- I'm a fan5. Paul Pinegar-- has all the tools, just needs to make better decisions(Colin, Nealy is being shunned for the combine??? I was shocked he didn't get an invite.)WRsOuch. This is a tough group to rate at this point.1. Jason Hill-- If he comes out, I think he'll have a long productive career2. Chad Jackson-- same with him.3. Steve Smith-- incredible athlete who's been ignored by his QB.4. Santonio Holmes-- very explosive5. Derek Hagan-- a bigger Derrick Mason, should be productive.

I go back and forth on Young every time I consider his game. BUT, you are mistaken about his passing accomplishments. Vick didn't have the stats Vince does. This year Young has completed 182 of 265 passes (63%) for 2769 yards and thrown 26 TDs to 10 ints, averaging 230 passing yards per game. His rating of 168 leads the nation, as does his 9.7 yards per attempt. That last number is important because he is often accused of just dumping the ball off, but all these QBs do to some extent. Vince goes down the field more than most, a lot more that Leinart, and he's proven to have the arm strength and accuracy to make the tough throws. That's all the good news.He doesn't have a bad delivery. He has a half dozen bad deliveries. Crappy coaching hasn't wanted to tighten up his mechanics, but the improvement this season, primarily in accuracy, has been, as stated above, tremendous. His upside is phenomenal, and therein lies his value. I agree his mental makeup-- reserved, unsure, shy, immature, quiet-- doesn't seem like an NFL QB's. He's like a year old German Shepherd that doesn't quite know what he is yet. If he learns to be the leader Colin thinks he is (or if he already is) then the issue becomes all those funky deliveries. I'm wary of him too, but the potential is worth the risk. He's a freak.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned P.J. Daniels from GAtech. Not much exposure or hype but great power/speed/vision. Another that will outperform his draft position unless he puts up a great combine.

I know he is a junior and has not declared or even made any indication but where would Brian Calhoun be rated?

Brian Calhoun = junior RB from Wisconsin

I'd put Calhoun around 5-6, probably a late 2nd-early 3rd round pick. But it's hard to measure him. Wisconsin's offense is built for the running game and I didn't really think he was anything too special when he was at Colorado. He's running it up on Auburn right now.
