Top RB in 2011 (1 Viewer)

Who is it going to be in 2011? Will Foster keep it going and can Chris Johnson put up the same numbers from 2 years ago?

Foster is your guy. Out of the 3, he has the best QB to help keep opposing defenses from stacking the box, he's also very involved in a dynamic passing game, so he's really never out of the game, even if they're behind in points. I thought Foster ran and looked like the top back in the NFL last year. I think Chris Johnson is still a threat every time he touches the ball but that offense seems like they're still in a mess over there so if I had the NO. 1 pick for a million dollars, I'm not taking Johnson as the league figured out a way to slow him down last year big time.

Minnesota at least on paper seems to be an offense on the decline compared to recent years. ADP can be stopped when you put 8 guys in the box all game, just about any back can be with a decent defense. I think that'll be the game plan to defeat Minnesota this year, make the QB beat them. I wouldn't be surprised to see ADP slip a bit this year in numbers.

Even though Foster kind of came out of nowhere last year, I would draft him No.1 overall without hesitation and start thinking about who I want on the turn in rounds 2 and 3.

In PPR I think LeSean McCoy has a shot at it, but only if Philly doesn't bring in Reggie Bush and only if Vick can keep up what he started last year.

I like McCoy, he's finished #2 in my PPR leagues last year and he's going to get more carries this year.
Guys like Mccoy and Rice are pretty safe bets to finish in the top 10 in pprs, but its hard to project them finishing #1 because they dont get alot of goaline carries. There are probably going to be a few RBs with similar yardage totals and receptions, but are good for double digit TDs.

With the number 1 pick, I would definitely choose Foster. As above posters have said, Peterson and Johnson will face 8 in the box often and will likely not see many goal line carries since their teams may not score often. If I had the second pick in the draft it would be very difficult for me NOT to choose Jamaal Charles.

There is certain criteria a RB must meet for me to feel comfortable with him as my #1.

They are as follows:

Situation is important, but I prefer talent over sitiation, since talent is always there.

After that then I want all three of these:

Carries/workload - I want a back that I think will get at least 250-275 carries.

Receptions - I want my #1 RB to catch at least 30-40+ passes a year, especially in pprs.

TDs - When my RBs team has '1st and goal from the 2, I want to know my RB will be in the backfield. Nothing worse in FF than watching your RB help his team get down to the 3 then get pulled for Mcgahee....i mean for another RB.

What makes you think the Chief wont bring back Jones or another back to take over goaline. This is the only negative as far as Charles competing for #1.

Its possible, but I think Charles gets a Chris Johnson type workload this year. I think it was already shifting that way as last season went on. I also think Charles is the best RB in the league. Only CJ and AD are even close...IMO. I'm chubing up just thinking about the numbers he could put up this year. I think he flirts with 2000 yards rushing.

McFadden in points per game, but he'll miss a few. Peterson is first in total points....unless this goes like last year and some guy like demarco murray will end up leading.

I'm surprised there has been no mention of MJD.

This should be a poll and there should be a LOT more options.

Peterson, Johnson, Foster, Charles, McFadden and MJD should all be in the discussion if you ask me.

There is no clear #1 this year. Hell I don't think there is a clear top tier right now.

You may laugh now, but I like Peyton Hillis to have a serious shot at being the #1 back in 2011.
Not worried about Hardesty at all?
Honestly, no, not worried about Hardesty. Sorry to inform all those Hardesty owners out there, but Hillis is the man at RB1 in Cleveland. I think Hillis is easily a candidate for top 5 RB and at those elevations #1 isn't out of the question.
I don't think Hillis will finish top 5, but I do think he is underrated and will finish as a top 12 RB this year. Top 5 is certainly possible, but there are 5 guys I like better for the spot.
