It might be useful to some if we all listed our top priority waiver claim from week to week. We all have different size leagues but would be useful for reference.

I'll start with mine: Dropping Santana Moss for Michael Bush

Great thread to start. Sitting with the 3rd pick on the WW and just freed up a roster spot trading someone but I don't really know who I want to grab. I have to grab someone but who...

Sitting on the #1 waiver spot here but really nobody worth wasting it on in my 12 team h2h league. With A. Gonzalez going down and myself sitting on the all under performing WR squad (Edwards, Moss, Hot, Berrian) I could use a receiver but Stucky, Meachem & Mi. Clayton are the only options in this league and I'm not sure I want to waste the waiver at this point. Clayton is clearly the guy with the most opportunity though!

Nice thread. I was thinking the same thing.

Im thinking, in this order:

Mike Bell (shocked nobody grabbed him before waivers)

Earl Bennet (dropped just before week 1 games for an owner who needed a QB)

Leftwich (we are 2 QB start and QB's are of high need)

HUGE MISTAKE in my opinion. Walker is going to be a beast soon. You need to be patient.

Dropping Mike Sims-Walker for Michael Clayton
What makes you think this? He didn't sniff the field on Sunday and is behind Holt and Williamson. Clayton has been good in the past and is behind a gimpy Bryant who by all accounts should regress to his crappy self this year.
I agree... 1 target, 3rd on the depth chart and a run 1st team... I'll take my chances elsewhere.

Dropping James Davis for Flacco (McNabb owner).

If I didn't need Flacco I would be picking up Burleson, Bush, or Bell.

Dropping Braylon Edwards for Antwaan Randle El.

Looking at Randle El's next few games I think it's my best move. Was thinking about dropping Moreno for F. Jackson but think I need to wait a couple more weeks before dropping Moreno.

Have the #3 this week, will end up with either McGahee, Henderson or Bush, just not sure what order to put them in. Fairly deep at RB but have a lot of time-share guys, and solid at WR, but hard to pass on somebody getting a lot of targets in the weekly Saints score-a-thon.

In a league with deep rosters:

Austin Collie is my pick. Not so sure he's gonna be a stud, but think his upside is there.

Bad move imho.Braylon is a much better rec, on a potentially better offense.

Which one? Both moves? I just don't see Edwards having decent numbers this year or untill he has a decent QB. Then I'm not sure he could hang on to the ball. Or do you think I should go for the the other and drop Moreno for Jackson? I'm still thinking serious about this move.

I disagree with both moves....Keep Edwards and move on Jackson now.

I don't like either moves. Moreno is starting slow because he was hurt - Fred Jackson will at best share carries when Lynch returns. Edwards is just a better WR than Randel El, not even close.

Do you not use any bench slots?

I've always played on Yahoo with open waivers in the past, and am glad to finally be using a real waiver system, but my strategy is a bit behind.

For those where waiver priority doesn't reset, how inclined are you to "save up" your waiver priority? It seems like the biggest waiver pick-up of the season (some stud RB goes down w/ his handcuff on the wire) will be worth many times as much as the week-to-week flyers.

In some seasons it's great to have that number one pick and hold it hoping for a great pickup but there have also been years where I've had it and wished I'd used it early and often regardless of the position I'm in. Often times people low on the order will not even put in a claim on a guy cause they believe they will just be wasting their time.

looking at dropping laverneous coles in all leagues for pretty much anything. I have my eyes on mi clayton, andres caldwell, matt leinart, meachem or laurent robinson.

I am not sold on Henderson. He had 1 big target game last year but I don't think he had more than 4 targets in a game the rest of the year.

I think I will look at Laurent Robinson of the Rams and possible ARE to start this week against the Rams this week.

Now I'm doubting my moves, maybe I need to hold off and see what happens in week 2. Last week I started D. Williams and Slaton at RB but with Slaton playing a tough TN D at home I think I'll move C. Williams in his spot. Standard scoring, PPR, redraft. Still starting Bolden, Fitz, and Driver at WR. At this point who knows who might break out in week 2.

Do you realize that Braylon Edwards was a booth review away from a 10.6 point day? He was shoved out of bounds on a pass interference and was a split second from reestablishing himself in bounds before he caught the ball for a TD (Nice catch, BTW). If you want to drop a 4th round or 5th round pick on a journeyman, be my guest.

Never fails...every year the week 1 panic button owners go crazy.I only wish I played in some of these leagues.
Happens every year, guys fall in love with their own projections and hold on to players not being able to admit they were wrong and miss out on a good opportunity. Wish I was in some of these leagues.

Would you drop Edwards for any of the following?

I. Bruce

Justin Gage

Devery Henderson

Michael Clayton

I'm guessing no if you feel dropping him for Randle El would be a bad move. I think I'll take my hand off the button and hang with my draft picks for at least a couple more weeks

KEEPER LEAGUE

PICKUP: WR Justin Gage

DROP: RB Peyton Hillis

PICKUP: TE Zach Miller (I know, I know ... league-wide oversight)

DROP: TE Jermichael Finley

REDRAFT LEAGUE

PICKUP: RB Cadillac Williams

The only guys i'd consider dropping on my roster are CHenry, DMason or LMcLain......Caddy will be gone and he is the only one of the wire worth dropping any of these IMO.

I am not sold on Henderson. He had 1 big target game last year but I don't think he had more than 4 targets in a game the rest of the year.
Clearly it was NO's gameplan to go deep, and Henderson is only on the roster to go deep. Against the Eagles, the deep ball won't be there. Saints have played the Eagles 3 times in the Brees era. Joe Horn had a big day once. Other than that a lot of spreading it around, and a heavy dose of Deuce.

Dropping Kevin Faulk for Washington defense (they play STL)

Dropping Jenkins for Mike Bell

Dropping Galloway for Louis Murphy

Dropping Thigpen for Kevin Kolb

Nobody interested in Louis Murphy? He looks like a favorite of Russell's and would've had 2 TD's last night if not for a hair splitting technicality.

I was thinking of dropping Chambers for him over other available free agents like Bennett, Mi Clayton, Devery, etc...

(TD heavy scoring).

This would be a good start. If you value Edwards so low, then package him with somebody else on your team to upgrade a position on your team. I guarantee you'll get someone better than Randle El.

edit: I have another day to debate putting in my #3 claim for Henderson. I know he's better than my flier Deon Butler, but is he worth #3 waiver, when I could be #1 or #2 next week? Tough call imo.

Because neither T.Williams nor T.Holt did much, both have their warts and Sims-Walker has been delayed this preseason (again) with injuries. That's a scenario primed for a shake-up if Sims-Walker remains on his recovery track. And the Jacksonville passing game should be more consistent week in and week out than Tampa's. But it is a gamble.Clayton has been good in the past...his rookie year....5 years ago! Not sure how that isn't just as big a gamble as taking Sims-Walker. And calling Bryant crappy is priceless! The irony of pimping the pot while predicting a regression for the kettle is rather amusing. You realize that if Clayton does well this season, all of this past offseason's "Will Bryant regress?" threads will be replaced by "Will Clayton regress?" threads.I'm just saying...

58 People checking out this thread. Wow.

Dropping a D for Garcon. Considering dropping either Chaz Schilens or Chris Brown for Washington D, Manningham, or Sweet Lou Murphy.

I would really like to talk myself into dropping Henry(can't believe I buy into this guys hype every year) or Meachem(I didn't start him last Sunday so who knows when he will get another TD) for L Murphy or Michael Clayton but who knows if those two would be any better/consistent-(I play in a PPR) than Henry or Meachem so I will probably just sit on Henry or Meachem and play the guessing game as to which one to use as my #3.

Henry gonna become available in some leagues it seems. Nice FCFS pickup right after the waivers run.
