Terry McCormick:

Despite the addition of Nate Washington, the Titans still would like to add at least one more wide receiver to the mix.

And while the Terrell Owens rumors on Friday were a hoax, the Titans would like to grab another veteran wideout to what they already have.

A report had the Titans potentially having interest in New Orleans Saints restricted free agent Lance Moore, but that isn’t likely to materialize given that the Saints tendered Moore at the second-round level. Such a price (the 62nd pick in the draft) would be far more than the Titans are willing to pay at that position, especially given the depth of this year’s draft at the wideout position.

However, don’t rule out a run at Torry Holt if (when?) he is released by the St. Louis Rams. At 32, Holt is nearly four years younger than Owens, and is the type of smart upgrade the Titans have tried to make when looking to add to experience to a position. Holt is due a roster bonus on March 17, which could precipitate his release. Would the Titans be willing to part with a late-round pick to land him before he gets to the open market?

That should kill any value he has left.
hard to say... titans haven't anybody like holt to throw to in a long time (ever?)... they emphasize the run by choice & will no doubt continue to do so... but there are worse things for a WR than to be on a team with an outstanding run game... he will rarely if ever be double teamed, & has the element of surprise in his favor... unless he hits the wall faster than i think, he could be WR1, even with the addition of nate washington in free agency... or maybe it would be 1A & 1B? it really depends on how much holt has left in the tank... how much the titans prospectively pay holt would be a clue...

for instance, if a team has a terrible running game & the defense knows a pass is coming, they can defend it more vigorously... also, a terrible run team may be more likely to go three & out, & its hard to amass numbers on the sideline...

Now that you edited your post from 'RB' to 'WR' I understand your point. Before, not so much...

I dont know about a WR1 Bob?? But a solid 2/3 WR?? I mean if you already have a Fitz and say Royal(??), than Holt would be a VERY nice 3rd option to throw out there every week? Lets wait and see where he goes? I've heard the Jets in Rumors too??

From what I understand there is a lot of interest in Holt if he is released. The Jets are also expected to make a run at him.

As we saw in St. Louis an important group of friends to the WR is the offensive line and they haven't been so friendly in river city in recent seasons. But we know Tennessee has a good offensive line and Justin Gage is a passable #2 WR in this offense if he were paired with a stronger receiver. The Titans could do a lot worse than Holt. It lacks the luster it would have had five years ago, but for a conservative offense Holt offers enough production potential to keep defenses honest and give the QB easier opportunities when he needs to pass.

Fantasy-wise, I think a healthy Holt would help the TE and RBs in this offense regardless of the production he gets. I think Holt could still eek out 1000 yards and five to six scores in this offense, which I think would make him a good #3 WR for most line ups.

I think he'll be a much better NFL pickup than a fantasy pickup. He's a guy with good hands that runs good routes that can keep the chains moving like a Derrick Mason. I don't know how much of a downfield threat he is anymore but that's not the game that the Titans play so I don't think it matters all that much.

(KFFL) John Clayton, of ESPN.com, reports the New York Jets and Tennessee Titans are the two most likely suitors for the services of St. Louis Rams WR Torry Holt, should Holt be released. However, two or three more teams will emerge as bidders if and when Holt is released.
