Toughest divison in the NFL? (1 Viewer)

For a while the AFC South was the colts and everybody else. Currently the divison is 9-3 overall with all 3 losses coming within the divison in very close games. If not the toughest divison, who is?

I was going to post "the SEC" just out of reflex.Hard to argue with that, given that we're only 3 weeks into the season.

No argument here. Looks to be the clear best at this point of the season. I'm not surprised by Tennessee, with their strong finish, or by Jacksonville, usually a strong starter. However, Houston's performance has been very surprisng to me. I didn't see that coming. For their sake, hope they can get past the injuries on offense the past two weeks.

Tennessee definitely impressed me tonight. I know it was the N.O. defense he was facing, but Vince Young has a lot of poise in the pocket for a second year QB, and his passes seemed a lot more accurate than what I saw from him last year. But most promising for that team is how nasty both of their lines looked. Albert Haynesworth is playing like a man possessed. And while not terribly impressive in run blocking, the O-line handled NO's D-line in pass protection. That team will contend for years if they build off of Young and those lines.

Updated for the win on MNF.

In week 4 Jax and Tenn are on bye, Indy has Denver at home and Houston goes to Atlanta so it's quite possible it lasts for one more week at least.

It would be nice for Fisher to finally get the credit he deserves as one of the best coaches in the league. He is known mostly for having the longest tenure, but he's done a great job leading this team from a SB appearance through a rebuilding period back to a team on the rise with legitimate 2007 playoff hopes.

I think it's probably too early to tell which division is the toughest, but while the AFC South has a perfect outside the division record lets look @ the teams they have beaten:

NO x2 (0-1), ESPN ranked 19 and falling

Den (2-0), ESPN ranked 9 (but way overrated with it's 2 late FG wins over Buffalo and Oakland)

Car (2-0), ESPN ranked 16

KC (1-1), ESPN ranked 31

Atl (0-2), ESPN ranked 32

So overall the AFCS opponents are a combined 5-4 against other opponents (with the common matchup of Car/Atl in week 3). So I'm not going to discount the success of the division, but I don't think we can get too overly excited about the outside-the-division-record based on really only 2 mild-quality victories they have had. I would say it appears to be the deepest division top-to-bottom at this point though so I guess I give them the nod @ this point.
