Trade advice thread? (1 Viewer)

Trade Bregman immediately in that kind of league. Guys like that get owners really excited around call-up time in a keeper and he has about 1% chance of being keeper relevant in that format.
The one option I didn't consider until last night is that if I finish last, I can protect the other three and not Harper and then draft him and reset his clock (we only can keep one "franchise" guy beyond three years -- Bryant and Correa both were first-time keepers this year).

12 team 5x5 roto in first place with 10 pt lead. Bats are dominant (55 pts) pitching is solid (45 pts) but anchored by Kershaw. Two teams chasing me have solid pitching, and all of the categories are tight, especially Ws and Ks. We keep 4 bats and 2 pitchers.

SPs are; Kershaw, Carasco, Teheren, Bauer, DeSclafani, Pineda, Taillon, J Garcia. Start 5

Keeper-worthy bats are Bryant, Goldschmidt, Marte, Polanco, Odor, Story, K Seager. Rest of lineup is solid with Bruce, Castellanos, W Ramos, J turner among the notables.

ChokeOnIt

It's possible I can hold on and win it w/out making a major move but thinking of offering the following to a team that is out of it and llooking to improve keeper bats:

Goldschmidt, DeSclaf, Garcia for Freeman Salazar, D Duffy.

Hate to lose Goldy but would be a big lift for Ks and Ws. I've tried offering something less straight up for Salazar or someone similar but no luck. I could wait for more clarity on Kershaw but don't like how that's trending.

Thoughts?

Wins are somewhat random as a pitcher can be awesome and have no run support so it's hard to say pitcher X is going to help me in wins.  Obviously the more starts you throw out there the more opportunity you have for wins.

In general, I think you could get much better pitching options for giving up Goldy.

12 Team H2H 5x5 Categories, with OBP, QS, and SV/HLD instead of BA, Wins, and SVs.  It's an auction draft, keep 6 per year, with the first 3 years of ownership at the auction price (FA's are $1).  After 3 years, players can be extended at a cost of $5 per # of years extended, so  (current price) + (years of extension x $5).  So a $5 player given 3 year extension would be $20 for the 3 years of the extension, with a 50% penalty carried on your auction cap if the player is released or not kept during the extension.

Okay, all of that out of the way, this is the trade

Team A, 6th place (6 teams make playoffs) receives:

Max Scherzer $37, year 1

Daniel Murphy $17, year 1

Team B, 11th place receives:

Josh Bell, $1, year 1

Blake Snell, $1, year 1

Addison Russel, $1, year 2 (extension would be due for 2018 season)

Basically,  Team A fighting for playoffs gets 2 high value rentals, team B gets 3 young players, all which are/were highly regarded prospects.  The trade sent an owner in the league (5th place team) into a frenzy, and had another owner say it was too out of balance.  Team B here just doesn't have any cheap, young players on his roster, so he wanted the prospects to start cheaper next year.  Team A already has Betts, Correa, and Springer cheap, so doesn't need the prospects.  Any opinions on whether the trade makes sense, or anyone feel like it was too much to give up for Team B?

Trades like this are extemely hard to evaluate.  Each team is in a very different position with totally different needs/wants.

Sucks for the other playoff teams but I don't see anything wrong with the reasoning for the trade.  No colusion as you can see what the teams are trying to do.

I think the guy selling could probably have gotten more but it's always easy to say that after the fact.

Yes, I am Team A.  I just wanted to hear some neutral opinions on the matter.  As I mentioned, 5th place was extremely unhappy, and 1st place just mentioned he felt like it was too much to gain for Team A for that package of players.  However, we also have had a couple owners speak out supporting it as well.  One owner pointed to regretting missed opportunities he had over the last 2 years to acquire players like Betts, and Springer in exchange for high priced guys that he has either not kept, or have hindered him come auction time.

Dynasty keep forever...

was offered Sano for Urias. I gotta take that, right?  He would move into 3rd over Yasmany Tomas.

Dynasty: I trade David Dahl, Hunter Renfroe, and Aaron Nola for Miguel Cabrera.

14 teams / 5x5 with OBP

would make my starting lineup:

C: Wellington Castillo

1B: Cabrera (Jose Abreu)

2B: Daniel Murphy (Yoan Moncada)

3B: Migeul Sano (Yasmany Tomas)

SS: Xander Bogaerts

OF (start 3): JD Martinez, George Springer, Gregory Polanco (Yoenis Cespedes, Adam Duvall, Mallex Smith, Travis Jankowski)

Flex (start 1): Anyone listed in parenthesis

Dahl is the harder part for me to trade away, I could sub Duvall instead?  Thoughts?

My SP is okay / JoFer, Verlander, Matz, Nola, Folty, Smiley, Cashner, and a revolving door of RP.

If you are in a prime spot to win it this year and Cabrera puts you over the top then I would do it.  Otherwise I would hold tight.

I'm 4 games back of the best record in the league. That puts me 4 games back of the bye as well since both division winners get a bye.

I got beat out by the same guy last year.

I'm pretty sure I want to make the trade. Cabrera should have 3 pretty good years left anyway. Any thoughts as to Duvall/Dahl?

He's not budging on Dahl. That's the offer.

I still gotta take it, don't I?

Made the deal but subbed Cespedes for Dahl.  Might be dumb but would rather have Dahl moving forward. Already having JD, Springer, and Polanco (plus others) in a 3 OF made it easier to move Yo.

In a keeper league where you can keep a guy five years, I just traded 5th year Altuve and 5th year Starling Marte for 3rd year $6 Mookie Betts.  I am probably just short of being able to win and I'm way ahead in SBs, so I thought this was a no-brainer.  I've managed to trade for Mookie in a dynasty league and a keeper league this year and own him in Uber 4 sport dynasty.

About 3 weeks ago I had a chance to trade Carrasco for Betts but held off because my outfield was strong and my rotation was weak.  Keeper league.   :bag: .  I guess I could try to offer it again but I'm guessing he's come to his senses by now.

Ohhhh that hurts. After Trout, I can't say that Betts isn't the 2nd best player.

Yup.  I just offered him Carrasco and Springer for Betts and Gausman.  3 weeks ago he essentially offered me Betts for Carrasco straight up.
