Broncos to Swap with Texans for No. 10 Overall

Neil Stratton, of Inside the League, has learned that the Houston Texans, as previously rumored, will trade its first-round draft pick, No. 10 overall, in this year's NFL Draft to the Denver Broncos Friday, April 27, in exchange for the Broncos' first-round pick, No. 21 overall, and second-round pick, No. 56 overall. The Broncos would select Mississippi LB Patrick Willis.

This makes zero sense to me unless they're planning on using that 10 pick to move even higher. It wouldn't take much for Buffalo or SF to leapfrog ahead of them if Willis is the only player they want. Seems you wait until you're on the clock to move if you only want one guy.More likely there's a move for Briggs or another higher draft pick in the works IMO.

I don't know Jean ... I doubt Atlanta comes off 1.08 (providing they don't trade up) if Landry is there or Miami comes off 1.09 if Quinn was to fall to them. Minnesota and Washington/Chicago??? pick could be had but Buffalo has many holes and needs to keep picks, SF is a possibility, but think they would settle for someone like Carriker. Off top of my head it would prolly cost them something like a 2007 3 & 4 to move up. to 1.07. I can see this Denver / Houston trade having some legs. As far a Shanny goes, I don't beleive anything teams say this late in the game.

It sounds like this will be an on-the-clock deal despite the original blurb so I'm with you now. It didn't make any sense to finalize a deal like this so early and potentially tip your hand whether it be Willis, Carriker, etc. Just sounded like a bridge move if it was finalized 24 hours before the draft started.
