Trade Inolving Howard, Keepers (1 Viewer)

I have Ryan Howard ($16) as a keeper in a $260 cap 10 team, 5 x 5 roto league (23 man rosters).

I have been offered:

Mark Teixeira ($32) and Garrett Atkins ($3)

for

Howard ($16) and Beltre ($4)

I have the cap room to make this deal. Howard can be kept next year for $16, while Atkins can be kept next year for $3. Is this a panic move fearing terrible things from Howards injury and buying low on Teixeira? The positions are the same so really it boils down to performance this year, and Atkins/Howards prospects for next year.

The Phillies listed him as day-to-day, saying he sprained the ligament that connects the tibia to the fibia just below the knee.

General manager Pat Gillick said X-rays done Wednesday showed nothing was torn and that Howard wouldn't need to have an MRI exam. Gillick also said he didn't think Howard would have to go on the disabled list.

I'd still look long and hard at doing this deal.

In no way is Teix worth twice as much as Howard, but the upgrade of Atkins from Beltre is pretty significant and would justify making the move regardless of health concerns.

Hope you took this deal while you could. It's pretty decent even if Howard is healthy. Atkins at $3 is pretty damn nice compared to Beltre. Howard isn't that much better than Tex.

Yeah, I'm still thinking it over. Teixeira was drafted this year at that price, while I got Howard last year for $16 and was able to keep him for 2 years (this year and next year). Atkins was exactly the same, and at $3 is hard to beat regarding a keeper for next year. I also have Hafner as a $16 keeper for next year as well, though he's only eligible at the UTIL spot.
