so in this THREAD

somone is saying how they dont want to draft LT at 1.1 and he said he would rather trade down to 4 or 5...another person said to do that too...

so my question is about value...

do you think you trade down and garner more picks?

or

do you wait til the draft is over and then shop "1.1 LT"?

1st I should say I dont think i would trade LT...but under the

assumption that you will trade him I say that you should wait...

that way you can see where you feel your team needs to be improved and then

can use LT and his VALUE to address those needs.

I would think you could get more for LT than you could for the #1 pick.

That's a fair idea, but then again it could be hard to put together a fair value deal that fits your needs.Assuming you will get similar value either way, acquiring picks allows you to greater choice IMO.

That's a fair idea, but then again it could be hard to put together a fair value deal that fits your needs.Assuming you will get similar value either way, acquiring picks allows you to greater choice IMO.

I agree with this completely.I'd rather be able to take whoever I wanted with the picks I got in the trade, than be forced to try to find teams that took players that I like, that have the depth to be able to trade. You're narrowing down your potential trade partners if you wait until after the draft, and limiting to a single team the list the players you might be able to get in a trade.

I can't say that I've ever noticed a solid trend that people give up better deals with picks or with players. I know some individuals I've seen don't value one or the other the way I think they should be, but I don't know I'd say there is an overall trend that you could count on getting a better deal either way. So I'd go with the increased flexibility of getting the players you actually want.
