Trade Willie Snead + for Paul Perkins- Non-ppr? (1 Viewer)

northern exposure

Footballguy
I expressed interest in Paul Perkins in a 12 team non-ppr Zealots league where we have 53 man rosters and can start 1-3 RBs and 2-5 WRs.

The other team owner asked for Willie Snead and an IDP for Perkins.

My current RBs are: CJ Anderson, McCoy, Burkhead, AP, JStew, JRichard, Damien Williams, TJ Yeldon

My current WRs are: Hilton, Dez, Jeffery, JLandry, John Brown, Perriman, Fitzgerald, MWallace, Snead, Stills, Zay Jones, Cooper Kupp

Other owner has:

RBs- David Johnson, Cook, Booker, Morris, McKinnon, Perkins, JRodgers, Spiller, MTolbert, Jamaal Williams, A Jones

WRs- Cooper, Evans, Julio, DeSean Jax, Agholor, Mike Floyd, Carlos Henderson, DeAnthony Thomas.

I think this is an overpay for Perkins because he will probably be part of a RBBC in New York.

Thoughts?

I wouldn't trade Sneed straight up for Perkins so if he wants Sneed + for Perkins, I doubt you can get a deal done.  I not only think it will be a RBBC, but am also concerned about the offensive line and the fact that Perkins isn't a talent who has separated himself enough to be a player I would want for the long term, especially at that price.  IMO he has initially won the starting job by default more than on talent.  What did he do that was so special last year to suddenly make him a good long term dynasty asset?  IMO nothing.  He had 1 good game last year and that was week 17.  He did nothing in the playoff game and overall averaged only 4.07 yards per carry for the year last year.  Part of that was due to the offensive line, but that hasn't really improved so I don't see how Perkins is now so valuable.

Perkins is the kind of player where if I owned him it's probably best to keep him and wait and see, unless I can get a good, young WR or an upgrade somewhere, and if I didn't own him I wouldn't be wiling to pay the price to get him.  I drafted Gallman in a couple of dynasty leagues (in the 3rd round) and have contemplated trying to get Perkins too and I don't see any deal that works for both teams in any of my leagues due to this apparent disconnect between what Perkins owners want and my opinion of him.  On the flip side, getting Gallman so cheap I want to see if he can win the job because I am not convinced about Perkins for the long term and I have nothing to lose by taking a chance on Gallman.  If Perkins costs a guy like Sneed or a 1st round pick, you definitely have something to lose by obtaining him.

For me it would depend on the IDP player he wanted.  Based on your roster you will likely never play Snead so losing him isn't a loss to you.  If you think Perkins will be the guy then it's a nice gamble to take based on your roster.  But that would be based on what IDP I was also giving up in the deal.

Overall, I think Snead is better than Perkins but based on your roster I wouldn't turn it down blindly.

I would rather keep Snead and see if he breaks out, then you deal him in a package for a RB to help you out.

I think it's much more likely for Snead to break out than for Perkins to break out.

Since you can start 5 WRs, Snead will start for you for many weeks to cover byes or Alshon's guaranteed injury :wall: , and you only have to start McCoy at RB.  Anderson or AP or Stewart can easily help out when needed.  No reason to get Perkins for that price.

Stay put.
