Trading for a top 5 WR- What are they costing? (1 Viewer)

In a few of my leagues I am a little RB heavy and WR light and have tossed out more than a few offers to try to reel in a TOP WR but have had no luck.

I offer fair deals and offer players that will fill a gap in the other owners' lineups but still haven't been able to reel in a solid WR by trading for him.

Most of my offers have been, what would be a first round RB for one of the listed WR's. Sometimes I'd bundle in a decent TE or decent #2/#3 WR to sweeten the deal but still ... no luck.

What are the top 5 WR's selling for in your leagues? What would it take for you to part with TO, Chad Johnson, Moss, et cetera?

Traded McGahee for S Smith right before his 10yd ad 30yd games-Joy

It has nothing to do with saying you offered a 1st round RB for them.......it matters if you're offering a RB that is producing.

You're going to have to offer up someone like FWP or another very solid RB to get those guys.

Nobody wants to get Maroney or Bush for Randy Moss or Terell Owens. Nobody wants Maurice Drew Jones over Chad Johnson either. Now, you mentioned Steve Smith......you may now be able to deal for him with 2 bad weeks in a row but unless you're ready to part with a top notch RB, you aren't going to get those types of Wr's.

I did the opposite and traded Holt and Fred Taylor for Maroney and Booker in a ppr league where I saw my RB depth as a potential problem down the stretch.

I will now start Gore, Portis and Maroney with Housh and Cotchery.

I fully realize that Holt and Maroney both have question marks, but WRs are easier to come by and I have nice depth at that position.

Is Harrison really a top 5 receiver still?

I traded TO,Big Ben, and Owen Daniels for Steve Smith before Delhomme got hurt. In order for me to give a great player I have to get a great player back. I'm not one for quantity over quality most of the time. I have Randy Moss too and can't think of any receiver I'd trade him for right now. Or player for that matter.

Well obviously. I wouldn't expect that offering CHester Taylor would be taken seriously. Stating that I've offered first rounders was a bit of a generalization. Some of my offers have included Lamont Jordan, Rudi Johnson, Willie Parker and all have been turned down and that is why I asked what some of the latest trades have been. I juts want to know what the going rates are. Also, keep in mind that I am usually offering the RB's to teams that are in need of a RB. Considering I am deep at RB, try to make an offer that will help both teams. I'm not offering RB's to teams that have LT, Ronnie Brown, and Peterson in their lineup.

I'm surprised FWP was turned down.......I know he didn't have much yesterday but he's solid. I can see Rudi being turned down with him being injured. I can also see people passing on Lamont Jordan, I wouldn't have traded for him for Moss or TO either although it's a fair offer with the hot start by him. I just don't believe he'll hold up.

Totally off topic but I'll answer anyway. I thought that I was upgrading the wide receiver position to the highest level possible. Steve Smith was the #1 wr after 2 weeks and the consensus #1 going into this season as well as last. To acquire such a player while giving up players who likely wouldn't play for my team (I had Romo and Cooley at the time now I have Romo and Witten) seemed like a very good deal to me at the time.If I knew that Jake Delhomme would be injured the next week and replaced by David Carr-wreck would I have made the deal? Of course not. If I knew that Jake Delhomme would play the whole season would I still make the deal? Absolutely.

Well offering up Jordan was a "sell high" move on my part and the Rudi offer was before week 3. These were just a few examples of offers I tossed out there. Initial offers too. At the very least, you have to admit that this is a solid starting point for trade talks. I've just been stumped on why I just get the "decline" and no counter, especially when the teams in question could use a little RB help.
