is it a good time to trade Rodney harrison or Donnie Edwards for a 1st round pick in a dynasty league. They are still at the top of the rankings but you would think they would be slowing down a little sometime soon.

A little while ago I traded for Harrison (gave up Brandon Stokley) and I'm currently in negotiations to trade for Donnie Edwards in my dynasty league. I currently have my 3rd round pick (#10) up in my offer and am thinking of going as high as my 1st rounder depending on who's available when I draft. But I'm a little hesitant to give up picks for Edwards. He coudl be me over the top this year, but he may be done soon and there are a lot of good players to draft in a league where you start 11 IDPs. I had the depth at WR where I could part with Stokley and safety was my weakest position, so that trade was much easier to make.

Well, it depends if you are going to be competitive. If I were in a postion to make a run, I would not trade those types of players. However, if my team looks weak, I would look to move older guys for youth (like a 1st rounder). I don't know about your league, but in mine you could get the top idp prospect late in the 1st.

You'll get some mixed opinions here. I'm of the opinion though that you should hold on to those 2 guys. Trading them for picks at this stage is the classic "play for next year," move. They'll still have value later in the season if your team is not doing so well and you'll still be able to get as much if not more from them then. Of course you didn't give any details of what kind of dynasty league you're in. Are those 2 guys in last year of contracts? Contracts at all? That sort of thing. Regardless though holding on to them is probably the smart move at this stage.

I offered G. Wilson, S, NYG and something minor to the guy who has Harrison...and he wasn't interested at all. His team needs to rebuild and all Harrison does is increase the chances of getting a worse draft pick for him. I thought by giving him a young safety who scores really well...you might go for it....oh well.
