You guys really think I'm kidding when I say buy Portis low right now...but look at all this.
His value will NEVER be lower.
NOBODY has said that Duckett is going to be a goalline back. Yet, everyone pushing the panic button is assuming that. NOBODY has said Portis has suffered a setback. Yet, EVERYONE is assuming that.
He's low-risk, and a very high reward right now. If the owner in your league is panicking, you won't have to pay much at all to get him.

If you're trading away, the recipient knows you're scared. He'll rake you and not give you fair value. Worse, he may give you PERCEIVED value, which is wrong. Portis is at a "local LOW", meaning he's down but not out. His value will increase from this point. If you sell now you're running scared.
If you are getting (or always wanted to get) Portis, now is the time. As Keys said, he's cheap. Go get him.

I'm discussing a trade, me sending Julius Jones and Barber for Portis

I'd take Barber straight up over Portis with the injury alone. And you're considering throwing in JJ as well?No way.
Adam Schefter just stated he felt Portis would not rush back from this and will miss the regular season opener because of the injury.What say you?

I think portis is fine and will start game one. Buy him low ASAP because once the season starts and he is fine, his stock only has one way to go.. UP.
Gibbs has a reason to say that (to keep Minn guessing and game planning for Portis), where Schefter has nothing to gain by making things up.

I have Portis as the 4th best RB in Dynasty league play, no way am i trading him for anything less then a #1 RB +....

I say I'd still take Gates in 2005 as the #1 TE even though he was out Week 1.Granted that was a suspension - but if it takes 1 more week to get Portis healthy for the remaining 15 games, I'd take that tradeoff.(I'm also mixing redraft and dynasty / keeper here methinks. I think the original ? was a keeper / dynasty one).

Portis is a far superior RB than eiher Jones or Barber. I'd make that trade in a heartbeat.

What everyone is neglecting in most of these conversations is that Ladell Betts is already nursing a bad hamstring, if I recall correct. He's missed time every year he's been in the league. Kerry Carter is also shelved. Is Washington supposed to roll with just Portis and Cartwright? They indeed don't trade for Duckett without a reason. The reason is that their depth at RB isn't anywhere near as deep as it was 2 weeks ago and they have playoff aspirations.I could see Portis missing a game or so at the beginning of the year with Duckett being brought in, just to ensure his arm is 100%. But it's TJ freaking Duckett. He's not going to come in and steal Portis' job. If the Portis owner in your league is panicing, take advantage.

because if he isn't on the field for 15-16 games... he's not a top 5 RB anymorehe may be on the field week 1... but can he SHOULDER the load?... they may be cautious w/ him... limiting opportunities... and there's always the fear that he reaggrivates the injury... which i hear is quite possible w/ a shoulder seperationI don't see why a seperated shoulder on a top 5 RB has everyones panties in a twist

I talked trade with the Portis owner in my dynasty league, and he wants Tatum Bell & LenDale White. Umm please for the love of God do that deal... Tatum and LenDale for Clinton F'N Portis? It's only a separated shoulder for the love of god... AND this is dynasty!?!?! WOW!I talked trade with the Portis owner in my dynasty league, and he wants Tatum Bell & LenDale White. I am pretty close to pulling the trigger. Losing Tatum in a dynasty league (it appears he will never be the starter in Denver, baring injury) isn't a big concern. I don't know how White is going to produce in the long run, that is the wild card. We all know how Portis will produce when healthy though, and that would be what I'm banking on if I make this deal.Umm please for the love of God do that deal...
