Trading up for the 1.01 (1 Viewer)

Raiders

In another thread someone pointed out that they thought that R Bush would wind up in Denver. So that got me thinking. What would it cost an NFL team to move up and get that pick from Houston? And who would be most likely to do it?

If it is Denver, as suggested in another post, would it take both first rounders this year, and next years first round as well? If someone like say, the Jets, would it be the 4th pick, and maybe a combo of cash and players?

Also, what is the chance that Houston is even willing to trade the pick?

My friend Steve is the son of the Carolina Panthers owner, and I asked him why they didn’t trade up to get the first pick to get Carr a few years ago, and instead went with Weinke later in the draft; and he said that Houston fell in love with him and they refused to even consider trading him. Also Houston had Carr signed well before the draft even started that year. That says to me that Caseerely likes to have his guys in camp and signed early.

I think that Houston will entertain some offers for the next 2 weeks, but unless they don’t get a Mike Ditka trying to get R Williams offer, they will sign him a few days before the draft. Thoughts?

Well the Dolphins effectively gave the Saints two 1st rounders for Ricky.

I would look at what the Giants gave SD for Eli (can't remember exactly).....it'll probably be something like that.

I don't know that it would even be possible for the Broncos to trade up from #15 all the way to #1. Has anyone ever moved into the #1 slot from that far out before?

I dissagree, I think it costs way more than the E Manning trade, for a few reasons.R Bush wants to play in Houston. Manning said that he basically refused to play in San Diego.

and

R Bush is considered the best RB prospect since M Allen. There were questions if Manning was even the best QB in that draft.

I am pretty sure not in the free agency era, but I believe the Houston Oilers traded up from the middle rounds to get Earl Campbell, for what would be considered a song by the way GMs think of the draft today. For the purposes of this type of banter, I will link to the trade chart. Basically the team moving up needs to match the point total of the position they are seeking. (Example Houston 3000 points)by a combination of picks and players. Not 100% gospel, but a good place to start.
