I know we had a limited sample size to draw on this season due to lack of playing time. However, I really liked his speed and the matchup problems he could present for LB's trying to cover him. What is everyone expecting of him as far as playing time and stats go? I still have good hopes of him developing going forward but not sure if that view is in the minority.

I liked him at Wisconsin, but thought the Giants offense was a bad fit for him. After his rookie season, this fear seems to have been confirmed. If he goes to another team or if the Giants get a more innovative OC, then he has some value. Otherwise he'll stay on the waiver wire in most leagues.

What I have found over the years is that if a Rookie makes nearly zero impact in his rookie year, don't expect much from hm going forward...For every rookie "sleeper" there are a dozens taking up roster space on large teams that will never produce enough to use in FF...

Beckum is part of the recent trend toward H-back type of TEs. He is a down field threat and has great hands and concentration. He can't block worth a lick, and he's had durability concerns in the past. He had 75 receptions for 982 yards and 6 TDs as a junior in a mostly a run first offense. That's quite impressive. He's compared to Dallas Clark. Now the worst part. He plays on a team that likes Kevin Boss more and I don't see that changing before 2011 without an injury. Boss is a FA in 2011 and his contract is pretty cheap. 7/18/2007: Signed a four-year, $1.85 million contract. The deal included a $175,000 signing bonus. 2009: $460,000, 2010: $550,000, 2011: Free Agent

Solid take JohnnyU. Beckum was a beast at Wisconsin, IMO the best receiving threat on that team for a couple of years. Showed great hands and ability to separate. Fully expect him to produce eventually, but per Johnny's post, he will struggle to take PT from Boss before 2011.

I don't know, most WRs don't do much their first year, QBs often take a year or two...

As a TBeck lover, great WR at least show something - 30-40 catches, 3-5 td. JFin for the Pack showed something his rook year - enough that people were taking late round fliers on the guy this year. I even took him in Anarchy 4Interestingly enough however, outside 1 TD recpt, JFin and TBeck Rookie stats are very similar

He still has some upside IMO, but the Giants are a run-first team with a plethora of receiving targets. Beckum needs to step up his game if he wants more playing time, but even if he does I don't think he will come close to seeing Dallas Clark stats.

Boss is such an underrated player. He blocks extremely well, has dependable hands and catches balls in traffic. Boss is also a huge target and one of the better red zone guys in the league. Boss is exactly what the Giants need going forward which sucks for Beckum. Boss is also just 26 years old and entering his prime and has improved in each year.

I think Boss will always be a TE 2 in fantasy, but won't be passed in that offense for sometime.

Unless he's signed by another team in 2011 when he's a FA. Money talks and if NY feels they have a suitable cheaper replacement I can see Boss going for bigger bucks somewhere else.
