Former Broncos RB Henry gets 10 years to life

Former Broncos RB Travis Henry has signed a plea deal with Florida prosecutors, accepting a charge that carries a mandatory 10 years-to-life in prison, $4 million in fines, and five years of supervised release.

In exchange for having two counts of cocaine distribution dropped, Henry will admit to conspiracy to possess cocaine with intent to distribute. Henry was arrested on the charges in October. He's safe to drop in dynasty leagues

What a waste. It's sad to see things like this happen to people who had so much at their fingertips.
Yep, he had some talent, and he completely pissed it away...He is one of the poster boys of what NOT to do when growing up (not just entering a sport).

I read the "He's safe to drop in dynasty leagues" over at Rotoworld too. I think that was a bit of dry humor there, at least I hope so. No one hard core enough to be reading NFL news blurbs in April would be lost enough to still be rostering Daddy Travis.

I think i'll hold onto him. Obama might pardon him for the sake of his 100 children.
Too late. GWB has tapped him to headline a nationwide anti-birth control speaking tour along with Bristol Palin and Octomom.

As sad as it sounds, dude probably more than willingly signed those papers to stay away from all those  hungry wimmens.

He plead down to 10 years to life? What was he facing?
Depends on many different variables, how much, what state, how many previous offenses, etc. He took a plea deal to go to "conspiracy to sell", he could have been hit with trafficking, distribution with prior offenses which he was probably looking at about 20 years. He's currently facing 10 years to life, but you only have to do a percentage of the time.

no, felony charges are day for day, with no parole.

You give a kid two first names, they're gonna think they're invincible.

Maybe now this is the last Travis Henry thread we will have to endure.
Might be the last one until 2019 when rumors will start that he might sign with a team. ;)
He's not going to be able to avoid it. The child support obligation is a vested debt on the date it is due. So his back child support will still be sitting there waiting for him to get out...all he can hope to get changed is his ongoing child support obligation. But most states still impute a minimum obligation for child support even for someone incarcerated. So all the time he's sitting in jail, his child support obligation will continue, at best at a lower rate, and his arrearage will continue to grow. Anyone know if it's federal or state time?If he's doing federal time, the individual states where he owes child support can file a detainer which means the feds won't release him when his sentence is completed except into that state's custody. To then get out of state jail, he's either going to have to post bail in the amount of his back child support, or convince the Judge let him out long enough to get a job and start paying. The thing is, with the amount he owes, the Judge may see him as a flight risk and not let him out without first posting some of money. Of course he has little incentive to stick around even if he posts a big chunk of change because he'll never get it back as it's going to be applied to his back child support anyway. And he'll still get thrown back in jail if he doesn't get a job right away and start paying. Why not run? And the Judge will expect this as well. He's screwed so bad it isn't even funny. Of course, he's not the first person he's screwed...so...

It's so pathetic. Here's a guy who should be a multi-millionaire angling for a final payday with some team and he's doing a dime with nearly a dozen children going through life without a dad or the support they need.

I know Travis Henry is a joke around here and I'm not attacking that position, but this isn't that funny to me. How can people waste so many gifts?

Consider the fact that numerous Tennessee fans have described him as literally one of the dumbest people they've ever met. "Gifts" come in many forms. He may have been great at football, but he wasn't born with an ounce of common sense.

 ..sad is what happened to Robert Edwards or Fred Lane or Rodney Culver.this is actually funny..A guy who had everything and pissed it all away.. /thug
 I cannot possibly fathom how this is "funny".There are certainly more tragic things to happen to people but to laugh at this guy's plight is just immature and asinine.

It is funny.Travis Henry is a gutterball. Tanner made a good point about Edwards, Lane, and Culver, plus the many others that caught a bad break. It is called self-responsibility. Travis Henry is no idiot, he is not stupid. He knew at the time what he was doing when he was selling drugs. For every action, there is a reaction. And it is not immature or asinine to laugh at his plight. The world will keep turning. Henry can now sell a few packs out of commissary to get flicks from his cellie. I am laughing my rear off!

"It's okay. Actually, you know what, it's kinda cool. 'Cause it's like, you know, one life ends and another begins."

"Not the way they're doing it."

Travis Henry is no idiot, he is not stupid.
FAIL. He is an idiot and he is stupid. Box of rocks was the opinion of him from HS'ers that went to school with him. While he had a decent NFL and college career, his HS success was amazing:As a senior, he rushed for 4,087 yards and 42 TDs. That's one high school season fellas.Interesting to note: wikipedia has his wonderlic at "7".

:bye:  What the Hell is wrong with some of you people? I just don't understand how it's funny to laugh at a man who is going to be spending the next decade of his life in prison. A guy who had millions of dollars will likely end up penniless.I'm not denying the guy is one of the dumbest players to play the game of football or that he didn't have any of this coming to him. I also understand there are many people who have had fate turn against them without making idiotic life decisions. He made his own decisions and he should face the consequences. I just cannot imagine how laughing at this man because he's facing time in prison is funny. Some of you really need to grow up. And I probably need to lighten up, but I really cannot comprehend how this is "funny".

He should plea bargain some conjugal visits with Octo-Mom.

Everything you wrote about him is what makes it funny. What am I suppose to feel sorry for his dumbacidness. By the way I just made up that word right here this second.

Please keep the tone in this thread civil. More civil, I mean.

TIA

BTW - Henry was involved in inter-state concaine trafficking, so the rap was Federal.

Moving cocaine from Colorado to Wyoming.

BTW, he also threatened to have an underling and his family killed because the the guy stole $40K from Henry - so 10 years is actually a light sentence since he was actively involved in a conspiracy to commit mass murder.

IMO, this case is not funny at all.

Why is this even still in the SP? You remove actual important topics about FF sites that rip off its customers, but this non fantasy football topic remains?

He is no longer in the NFL, this should not be in the SP in mho.
