Travis Henry (1 Viewer)

cant play Buf and Oak every week.

He will struggle against good D's

Still a top 10-15 back unless he losses GL carries.

I thought that this had more to do with Jacksonville controlling the game than anything else. I could be wrong, but I thought that I read that in the game thread. :bye:

Jacksonville had nearly a 2-1 TOP advantage, including a monster 12-minute drive in the 1st/2nd quarter. IIRC, Henry didn't even get a carry until about 18 minutes into the game. Quite simply, Denver just didn't have the ball enough for Henry to put up any kind of stats this game.

Drawing any kind of conclusions about Henry's performance against good defenses as a result of this game doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

The guy only got 11 carries. You just can't do much yardage-wise with that. Even if he averaged over 5 ypc, he still woulda ended with 55 yds and a TD. Unfortunately, Jax completely controlled TOP and Henry wasn't much of a factor. Brandon Marshall had a big game and they kept exploiting that, right or wrong. We'll probably see this a couple times this year when Walker and/or Marshall have big games, but for the most part, Henry will be fine. The fact that he got the ball so little and they lost may also serve as a wake-up call, so I'm not discouraged by this week at all.

I kept checking into game center and the game thread as well. At first I thought he hurt himself in warmups, as he didn't have a touch in the first quarter. Then I saw in the play-by-play that Shanahan got cute and started the game with an end around, then a penalty put them in 2nd and 17. Only one possession in the first quarter.I check in again late in the second quarter, thinking he might get something in a two minute drill. Oops. Another cute play, let's give the ball to the backup and surprise them. FUMBLE!That's OK, though. Denver gets the ball to start the second half. He'll get going then. Opening kickoff... FUMBLE!Not much Henry can do when he never gets the chance to get going. It's still disappointing, but credit Jacksonville's defense and blame Denver's decisions and fumbles more than Henry.

Unfortunately for me with our scoring system he has been a dissapointment all year. That being said he's been consistent scoring about the same amount of points every week for me the first two on yardage, and this one with the one TD.

There were several reasons Henry got so few touches. As was mentioned already, Jax dominated the TOP right from the get go, and got ahead, so Denver was playing from behind.

Another factor was the poor plays, and calls on first down. They lost a lot of yardage one 1st downs, from what I remember forcing them to throw a lot on 2nd and 3rd.

Sounds like you're TD heavy. I also have him in a similar league. He had an earlier chance in the game from the 1-yard line and got stopped. It's encouraging to me that he got a carry from the 1, and also that he scored from the 6. Depending on where you drafted him, he may disappoint in the TD department. However, he's performing at or above the level of many players taken before him in most leagues: L.Johnson, S.Jackson, Bush, and Parker come to mind; maybe even Alexander.

The best thing that happened to Henry owners yesterday were Young's fumbles. Everyone knows how much Shanahan hates fumblers.

Fumbles aside, Young looked better on his touches.

better in what way?better than Henry?better than he looked in the previous weeks? All I see in the box score is 2 carries, 7 yards; 2 receptions, 37 yardsbetter out of the backfield catching passes?

Why do you say Young looked better on his touches? I watched the game and don't knwo why you'd say that as he only touched the ball 4 times. On which one of his 2 carries for 7 yards did he wow you?

It must have been the only one in which he held onto the ball.

The frustrating thing was the lack of trusting in the guy you paid all that money to to punch into the endzone. He could have had 3 short yardage TDs yesterday. Instead, there were other backs tried or passes thrown.

That's because Shanny is a GENIUS.

Shanny LOVES play action bootleg on the goal line. Always has.

Maybe 'JuniorNB' is Selvin Young's FBG alias...... http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index...howtopic=346638
