Peter King reported on NBC that Trent Green was doubtful to start in Week 2 at Denver. If the team fears Green will miss significant time, we wonder if they will think about trading for Billy Volek this week. Damon Huard would likely start otherwise.

Chiefs | Green injury update

Published Sun Sep 10 11:01:00 p.m. ET 2006

(KFFL) KCChiefs.com reports Kansas City Chiefs QB Trent Green's (head) condition is improving as he continues to stay at a local hospital for further evaluation. X-rays performed on Green's head and neck came back negative. "Obviously a pretty severe head trauma, but he had all his senses and feeling in his arms and legs," Chiefs President Carl Peterson said of Green's injury. "Actually, when he did wake up he remembered every play except the one that knocked him out. He's in the hospital right now, but the preliminary X-rays – and they did them of the neck and head – are all negative. So, we're being very optimistic and hopeful."

too early to give a grade like "doubtful"

They have two young guys I'm sure they'd love to look at for one week.

I don't foresee a Volek trade they have veteran depth and youngsters to develop. They seem "set". If Trent is out for a long time(not so common with concussions) then maybe but....

Didn't Green have some head/brain issues last season??
just poor judgement :D nah I don't recall
No. Early last season, I remember there were some concerns internally with his brain, and there was some concern that it might be career threatning, but he ended up being ok. They talked about it extensively on one of the MNF games. I wonder if this will impact that at all, or if its even related...

The week 3 bye makes this a no-brainer. They would be stupid to put Green back in there this week anyway. They'll be 0-2, and he'll be good to go week 4

add in this tidbit:

In the last 26 times KC has played in DEN, they are 5-21. It doesnt matter who we send up there, even the best KC teams lost in DEN. Its the same for them in KC.

Like was stated earlier, I would rather see KC play Croyle and run LJ maybe 35 times, mixed in with 15 from Bennett and a lil' dose of Gonzalez.

Thank goodness he's okay...at first the sports bar I was camped out at was rowdy and yellling "lights out"...after a few minutes had passed it was quite a different story.

Hang in there Trent.

I dunno...did you see how horrible Denver was this week?I have them even or badness next week.Actually, Huard was not good but i don't think he was really THAT bad.I mean, the dude hasn't thrown a live play in years. I thought he played all right after he settled down a bit.12/20 140 1 td 1 lost fumble....Not great but respectable. I think he'll hold the reigns fine next week. Not like Edwards' crappy offense calling is going to make him try to win the game.

My thinking too on the week 3 bye. Let Green rest up and he can play Oct. 1. With a full week of practice with first team Huard might even shake the rust off enough to tread water against Denver. They could get another backup QB or let Brodie Croyle be the #1 backup and move Casey Printers in off the practice squad as an absolute emergency play. It's a business, too, remember. They don't want to absorb a 15-game salary on a guy who might only be needed for 1 week.

It's early, but I wouldn't mind a getting a look at Croyle. The week three bye is a lucky break. Put in a running-biased gameplan and let Croyle and Huard handle Week 2. They're gonna need Green in Week 4 and beyond.

Horrible? I'm not a Denver fan by any means, but they didn't give up a touchdown to the Rams. How is that horrible? I'm assuming your talking about the defense because the offense of Denver has no relevance in this thread.
