Green replaces injured Brady on AFC roster

ESPN Website

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Trent Green was put on the AFC's Pro Bowl roster Friday, replacing injured New England quarterback Tom Brady.

It was the second Pro Bowl selection for Green, who also made the AFC team after the 2003 season.

Green threw for 4,014 yards and 17 touchdowns this past season, completing 62 percent (317-for-502) of his throws.

He finished the year with a 90.1 quarterback rating, his fourth straight 90-plus season. Green is the only active quarterback to do that and only the third in NFL history behind Steve Young and Brett Favre.

Green's selection gives Kansas City six Pro Bowl picks, although offensive tackle Willie Roaf is injured and will not play. The others are running back Larry Johnson, tight end Tony Gonzalez, and guards Will Shields and Brian Waters.

The game is scheduled for Feb. 12 in Honolulu.

Add Richard Seymour to the list too...PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Steelers nose tackle Casey Hampton will replace the injured Richard Seymour of the New England Patriots on the AFC Pro Bowl roster.Hampton, in his fifth season, also played in the Pro Bowl following the 2003 season.Hampton missed all but six games of the 2004 season with a knee injury, but returned this season to make 44 tackles and force one fumble. He is considered one of the NFL's best run defenders and is a major reason why the Steelers haven't allowed a 100-yard rusher in their three playoff victories.Guess the Patriots want to start getting healthy sooner than later!

Favre isn't active?

Apparently, Brady's tears since the Denver loss has given him a nasty eye infection.

Your hatred for Boston sports has no boundaries. My guess is this is related to his leg injury. I think it was banged up more than he let on (like his shoulder in 2002). Either that or it's simply from a year of taking hard hit after hard hit and his body just needs to shut down.

Nice to hear from you Boston. I'm only ribbing him. Only hatred I have is for your beloved SAWX. My only thoughts about the Pats were that they were making the game very boring for anyone that isn't a New England fan. Football is supposed to be about parity and have an element of mystery that "any team can win any given year". The Pats took that part of the game away the past four years, and more power to them. It's no different than how most people feel about the Niner, Cowboy, Laker, or Yankee dynasties of years past.I did, however, lose a touch of respect for Brady with some of his whining this year. I always considered him a consumate professional and a true student of the game. But his crying after the SD game and at other times throughout the season was very uncharacteristic and he loses a bit of his aura when he displays Peyton-type qualities.

Hampton should have been there from the beginning. He dominated the line this year.

Obviously we're going to disagree...by the way good to see you as well. Do you have your "I hate Coco" Tshirt yet?The one thing you're missing is that Brady took on even more of a leadership role this year. What you think is whining has been looked upon very favorable from his teammates. When things looked their bleakest this year (and there were times it was mighty bleak) he did not hide. Instead he stepped forward and took much of the heat off his teammates (without pointing a single finger). That is why he is so universally respected by his teammates. There's a huge difference between what he did and what Peyton did which is why I absolutely applaud his actions.

Maybe they meant his current streak is active and Favre's isn't. I am guessing they simply didn't word the sentence correctly.

Did Trent Green get the nod over Plummer?

That doesn't seem right to me.
I noticed that too. A bit surprising. So not only was PLummer not in the top-3, he appears to not be in the top-4 either....

Plummer was already named to the Pro Bowl when Palmer got hurt. I think Brees was the first alternate (he is hurt, too) and Plummer was the second alternate. Green was the third alternate, obviously.
