All I know is that he's killing me. He was supposed to be the best QB in a 3 QB rotation this season, and instead he's just dead weight. To make matters worse, Huard is looking good and I'm wondering whether he'll continue to play even after Green returns given Green's age, the new coaching regime, and the thought that Huard might be a "QB of the future".Any homers got the scoop?Trent was just dropped in my league and I'm considering picking him up depending on the outlook. I'm seeing that he's 4 weeks away. Which would put him back week 10 @ Miami.
Huard is 33 years old and is the definition of a journeyman. I highly doubt he would keep the job if Green comes back healthy. He is a stopgap at best IMO.Where have you read 4 weeks more for Trent? Just wondering. Picked up Huard as a throw in for another deal - was shocked at his numbers. Not bad at all. With the new Hermified regime in place I think there is a chance for him to steal the job. You never know - Green isn't exactly young - how old is Huard? I think he's been around.

Huard looks like a solid #2 for a few weeks anyway.
Wow, I thought he was younger than that. That's not that much younger than Green.Huard is 33 years old and is the definition of a journeyman. KC plays Oakland week 11.I don't have a link, but I live in KC. Trent began working out yesterday. Herm said he did some work on the treadmill. I would say we're looking at him being out a minimum of 2 more games. My guess is he is back for the Oakland game (week 7)
It translates to playing in the NFL by meaning that, during games, he'll hear all the bells and whistles.I heard he is still hearing bells ring, but is doing better at driving a car.Not sure how that translates into playing in the NFL though.
Crap. My bad, I didn't have a schedule I was looking at my season tickets and obviously looked at the wrong one!!KC plays Oakland week 11.I don't have a link, but I live in KC. Huard lacks the deep threat. That's why the running game is struggling. Almost all of Huard's passes are the short, high percentage type. The few he has thrown deep...didn't look good. He's made a couple nice fade passes, some good sideline tosses, and a few over the middle that got the job done.But...teams aren't playing the pass. They're playing to stop LJ. That leaves most receivers in 1 on 1 coverage, safeties are cheating up, and Huard is simply taking what teams give him. There is no QB controversy in KC. I don't want to say KC has won in spite of him, because he has done really well. But...I think most people here realize that while the team has won a couple of games, Green still gives KC the best chance at winning overall when he's healthy. It really depends how well they are playing. If KC wins 2-4 more in a row and Huard plays at this level, I just don't see him going to the bench.
This is exactly why I traded for him right after he got hurt. Hasselbeck is my starter and Green's schedule complemented his beautifully. In addition to his week 5 bye Hass had three tough matchups I wanted to avoid @ Chicago in week 4, @ Denver in week 13, and San Diego in week 16. KC played San Fran, Arizona, Cleveland, and Oakland those weeks. I knew it was a gamble but I thought Green had a chance of coming back by week 4 and playing Hasselbeck that week cost me my only loss of the season so far. At 4-1 I'm thinking playoffs so I'm still holding Green hoping he'll be back by week 13 but I'm starting to get a little nervous. It really depends how well they are playing. If KC wins 2-4 more in a row and Huard plays at this level, I just don't see him going to the bench.
Huard goes straight to the bench... KC's "dumbed-down" their offense so much for DH. The only reason he's starts for more than the next 2 weeks is for precaution of Green's dome. This is exactly why I traded for him right after he got hurt. Uh...no. I do find it funny that it's Herm's effect on the offense, yet...people want to know when Green will come back because the offense will improve. I think maybe...just maybe...the effect on the offense might be due to Green being out, because Huard can't throw deep.Anyway, Green has begun throwing the football for the first time this week. But he's still not practicing with the team. No timetable for return.Has there been the slightest rumor in Kansas City that Green may consider retiring after this year, considering his age, his concussion, and the Herman Edwards effect on the offense?
Actually, I think the new Herm effect is on QB health. Under him last year, the Jets lost 2 QBs for the season within several snaps/ Then Trent didn't even make it through Week One.Uh...no. I'm not so sure that Green is two weeks away since he has been cleared to practice this week. I do not know what the Herm Edwards line is between cleared to practice and game ready, that's up for debate.Huard had another very good game - he is currently a top 10 QB in my league points wise. With Green still at least 2 games away - how many of you are using Huard in your starting lineup?
ESPN the mag had a little blurb about this, it seems his family is worried about him.Has there been the slightest rumor in Kansas City that Green may consider retiring after this year, considering his age, his concussion, and the Herman Edwards effect on the offense?
I may start Huard over Eli soon. If Green isn't back. They have some good matchups soon. But Green said Sunday that realistically, he probably won’t be back until at least the Miami game on Nov. 12.
“I talk to the neurosurgeons a couple of times a week,” Green said. “Next week I’ll have another checkup after going through this course of practice and see how this feels. I’m really kind of on their timeline.”

My knee jerk reaction after Hass got hurt was to trade for a QB like Palmer or Delhome - but closer examination of the Chief schedule and performance of Huard has me rethinking it and just sticking with KC - really like their matchup this week and down the stretch as much as any out there.I may start Huard over Eli soon. If they can get past @ STL, the schedule is nice.@ MIA - KC doesnt play well in Florida (hurricane in '05 is an anomaly) historically, but MIA might be bad enough to win down there. Is this certain then? I've seen indications that he could, not that he is.And remember that John Welbourn is coming back, so that helps Huard protection wise.
Injured Chiefs quarterback Trent Green was hopeful last week that he could return for next week's game at Miami, but he said after Sunday's game that he wouldn't play until the Nov. 19 game against the Raiders at the earliest. -- Kansas City StarBut Green said Sunday that realistically, he probably won’t be back until at least the Miami game on Nov. 12.
