OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- The Baltimore Ravens reached an agreement in principle with four-time Pro Bowl defensive end Trevor Pryce on Saturday, team officials and Pryce's agent said.

Pryce, a starter for the Denver Broncos for the past nine seasons, agreed to a five-year contract worth $25 million that includes $10 million in guaranteed money.

Pryce's arrival happened hours after Baltimore lost defensive tackle Maake Kemoeatu, defensive end Anthony Weaver and running back Chester Taylor on the opening day of free agency.

The deal will be finalized early this week, officials said.

Pryce has 64 career sacks in nine seasons.

The former first-round draft pick from Clemson has been hampered for the past few years by a nagging back injury. Pryce repeatedly has insisted that his back is fine, but his production has been declining since posting a combined total of 25 sacks in 1999 and 2000.

After being limited to two games in 2004 because of the back injury, Pryce had 31 tackles and four sacks last season and was credited with one tackle in two playoff games.
Being on such a defensive squad, will he be able to revert back to his '99/'00 self?

eta, sorry if this is old news (since the article is dated from March 12) but he'd been listed as a FA for a while and i just noticed they changed it

Believe it or not, but I believe his value falls with his move to BALT (...if this is possible).

Best case scenario, he's moved to DT on passing downs. Worst case scenario, he's a 2-down defender who sits in place of Suggs, A Thomas and Cody on passing downs.

As a quick aside, players can still have good value rushing from inside on passing downs. Plenty of undertackle types put up very nice sack totals rushing only from the DT position. Don't drop Pryce on your lists if you hear he may move inside.

I'm not very high on Pryce because he's unlikely to put up enough tackles to be meaningful in most leagues and he hasn't had a double digit sack season since 2000 to make up for those weak tackle numbers. And if he does in fact sit in favor of Cody on passing down he'll have no chance to put up enough sacks - as RAPTURE noted.

IMO, he projects as marginal depth in the deepest leagues. He's out of my Top 60 for now, but could work his way in during training camp.
