So just a litttle background into the league..... It is a keeper league (ppr) where you start 2 QB's with the option of flexing out one of those spots to a Wr/rb/te. If you keep a player for example MJD in the 6th round and want to keep him year after year he would then be your 5th round keeper the following year. As soon as a players keeper availability falls into the 3rd round you can no longer keep him.
My two keepers are Turner/MJD (easily the best in the league). I had third pick overall and drafted R. Moss (off to a great start here I think). On the way back down I draft E. Royal and then go T. Owens. Now, my thought process is I wanted to go QB with one of these 2 picks, but there was a huge run on QB's prior to them and I did not like what was left. In my head I made the decision that I would proably end up flexing out one of those QB spots.
When it comes to my next pick I wanted Witten but he went one spot before I drafted as the first TE off the board. I decide to take D. Clark (who I am very high on this year). Then with my next pick 5 picks later I am thinking of who I could pick to use in my flex spot that is good value here. I decide to take T. Gonzalez. Many laughed at this decision. In fact, I am not even sold on it at this stage. I then waited forever to grab my first QB as everyone had already got the starting QB's some even 3 guys before I drafted my first one. I then drafted a mitful of average at best guys to hopefully have one with some value.
Here is what I ended up getting.
QB: Shaun Hill, K. Collins, Leftwich, Culppepper
RB: MJD, Turner, Felix Jones (might flex him out as well), J. Norwood
WR: Moss, E. Royal, T. Owens, J. Gage
TE: Clark, Gonzo (going to flex one out)
Def: Washignton
Kicker: Kaeding
What do you guys think? I don't know if I am totally sold on what I did. Definitely was not in my draft plan. In fact had the guy that picked first overal not taken Schuab right before I drafted Owens I would have obviously not done this strategy as I was going to take him. Lets just say it is going to be a really good move or look quite stupid.
