Trivia Question: First Round RBs (1 Viewer)

The Colts now have two first round RBs on their team: Joseph Addai (drafted 30th in 2006) and Donald Brown (drafted 27th in 2009). Have any teams ever had two RBs who were taken in the first round of the same draft? What's the most recent example?

Clearly the answer to the second question is "Yes" from the second question. So I will take a shot. We want a RB who's bounced around the league a bit, and antoher RB of the same vintage.Tomlinson/Bennett in SD, maybe?

Reggie Bush and Deuce McAllister weren't from the same draft, but it's two first round backs on the same team. Same goes with Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown, Maroney and Taylor, and a couple others.

The only one I can think of that might be true is Benson/Leonard?

Good one. They came out the same year, and a lot of people passed on Tomlinson for Bennett because he played behind that awesome Minny line. Whoops.

Not sure whether any teams have TWO RBs from the SAME draft, but Miami has Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown...someone mentioned DWill and Stewart.

I think there was a team in the 60s that drafted a RB and FB in the 1st (not a clue who, but it is sticking in my mind) in the SAME draft, but even Addai and Brown were not in the same draft.

Thats right.

Off the top of my head, I think there have been 18 times where two RBs were drafted in the first round in the same year that ended up on the same team since 1950.

Gifford/McElhenny were both terrific players, but Gifford had moved to flanker and McElhenny was washed up by then; not sure if they still count.

'50 Bears. Hunsinger was the halfback from Florida and Morrison the fullback from Ohio State. Morrison ended up with the better career while Hunsinger just kept chanting the name of the conference he attended.

LaDainian Tomlinson (drafted 5th in 2001 by San Diego) & Michael Bennett (drafted 27th in 2001 by Minnesota) it is. Both Pro Bowlers, amazingly enough. That was going to be my (misleading) hint if the answer didn't come quickly. In the Tomlinson washed up thread someone mentioned that he & Brees were the Chargers' first two picks in the same draft, so I took a look to see if they were in the running for the best draft ever (answer: not unless you give bonuses to CFL all-stars). That's when I discovered this neat little fact to share. Mostly, though, I just wanted Chase to show up & tell me the rest of them. Thank you, sir.
