Troy Polamalu (1 Viewer)

Has had 0 impact in any of the first two games. I'm assuming his role has changed somewhat and as such has no value. I have no bench spots to spare for a guy that hasn't hit double digits for the year.

It's been a good three years, but this two time keeper is off the team.

See my post below. You might want to wait one more week. He has cost me two games! I lost tackles by 2 each week. I don't want to be 0-3.

It's too early to cut players like Polamalu. The circumstances were as much or more responsible for his poor numbers than his play. The Steelers defense was not on the field that much.

I'm no big fan of Polamalu's usual IDP value, but there's definitely something to be said for the fact that the Steelers have faced the fourth fewest offensive snaps and second fewest rushing attempts in the league. A big play guy like Polamalu will have games where he puts up 2 solo tackles or less -- he had five in the past two years. That's almost 20% of his games. Most DBs are going to be that inconsistent since they are more sensitive to game situation, gameplan and surrounding cast than any other position.

Cut him? It's a matter of whether you can take the good with the bad. Most Polamalu owners are okay with the big games enough to take the poor ones. They make his DB9, DB14, DB17 (proj) finishes seem better than they are. It just depends on the dynamics of your team. If you can survive the poor weeks, the big weeks can win you games you wouldn't have otherwise.

Isn't there room between not having him in your starting lineup and cutting him from your team?
Not really. Bench spots are scarce for 2ppg DBs.
:wall:There are offensive and defensive players that are not in my starting roster that are sitting on my bench even if they're not producing today. You don't cut him because he hasn't produced in two games, but you keep him because of what he might do over the next 14 games. Of the top 3 picks in most drafts, LT is doing the best - and in many leagues is being outscored by the likes of Chris Brown and Derrick Ward. In FBG scoring, Larry Johnson is RB26 and SJax is RB28. Would you cut them? No, because most people are going to project them to eventually outperform. Both Bloom and Norton had him projected as a top 10 DB. He hasn't produced in two blowouts by the Steelers.

So have you cut Lee Evans too?
Actually - yes. In an auction league where I paid too much money for his production ... so I'll drop him and pick him back up for less ... hopefully. Every situation is different. In a head to head league ... you can't afford to have goose eggs out of a starter ...
