Vikings | Williamson punched at charity event
Published Tue Nov 28 11:45:00 p.m. ET 2006
(KFFL) Kevin Seifert and Judd Zulgad, of the Star Tribune, reports Milwaukee Brewers WR Troy Williamson was punched in the face at a charity concert Monday, Nov. 27, according to an organizer of the event. Accounts about the incident vary, but Williamson was hit after the "Sharperpalooza" festival at the Myth nightclub. Williamson was not seriously injured and has declined to press charges. The event, sponsored by Vikings S Darren Sharper, was held to benefit the United Way and the Minnesota AIDS Project. Sharper's marketing agent, Darren DeWalt, said Williamson was hit without provocation by a Myth security guard. Head of security at the nightclub, Mark Naylon, said Williamson refused to leave at the 2 a.m. closing time and that video cameras did not catch the exchange. Naylon said a man, presumed to be Williamson, complained about getting punched but would not identify the assailant.
