Trump and Bigotry: A False Association (1 Viewer)

Is Trump going to appoint any sane people?
It's not looking good.  At this point, even if Trump got impeached during his first year in office, he would leave behind a completely broken, incompetent administration for Pence.  (I know many people have problems with many of Pence's positions, but he doesn't strike me as crazy, just as very far-right on social issues).

Jesus H. Christ, we've been dealing with a bunch of insane zealots for the last 8 years running the government, but NOW you pipe up?
Max, I think I know where you stand.  You dont need to tell me every time I post something.  Lets just agree to disagree on everything.  Now go away while the adults are talking.

We are talking, who invited you?  And of course we disagree on everything.  You and your pals are quite afraid of the truth so you shun it like a leper.

What makes me afraid is you and your pals take whatever someone says as truth as long as they align with your political ideology.

Donald Trump has repudiated the fringe "alt-right" group that celebrated his election win with Nazi salutes.

In a far-ranging interview with the New York Times, the US president-elect was quoted as saying: "I condemn them. I disavow, and I condemn."

He said he did not want to "energise" the group, which includes neo-Nazis, white nationalists and anti-Semites.

Alt-right supporters were filmed on Saturday in Washington DC cheering as a speaker shouted: "Hail Trump."

In the video, Richard Spencer, a leader of the "alt-right" movement, told a conference of members that America belongs to white people, whom he described as "children of the sun".

He denounced the movement's critics as "the most despicable creatures who ever walked the planet".

"Hail Trump, hail our people, hail victory!" Spencer shouts at one point as some members of the audience raise their arms in the Nazi salute.

The gathering on Saturday drew protesters who blocked traffic around the Ronald Reagan Building, a federally owned conference centre in the nation's capital.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel expressed concern on Tuesday that Mr Trump's election victory could give succour to white supremacists.

A senior official close to her described the "Hail Trump" video as "repulsive and worrying".

Trump is not a bigot, at least not any more so than any typical NYC Real Estate Mogul 1%er that puts his name on everything would be. What he skillfully negotiated was saying just enough to get all of their support, without crossing the lines which normally would have been disqualifying. He has about as much in common with the typical alt-right guy as Warren Buffet, Mark Cuban or any other rich guy do, maybe even less so in some cases given his social positions. He's basically a liberal RINO who managed to garner the support of people he has nothing in common with, nor with whom he would actually like contact with in his real life day-to-day activities.

I think Trump's willingness to blow up ordinary political norms go a long way towards explaining the attraction to him by alt-right types.  Most rich guys would not do that.

This was not even one example of BLM committing terrorist acts.

In fact this was even not an act of terrorism, just one crazy black guy attacking a white person. It would qualify as a hate crime but that is about it. And there is no indication that he is a BLM member.

I hadn't thought of it that way and you are right. If you a radical who hates the government it makes sense that you are the #1 fan of the guy tearing up the government.

I don't agree that protestors attempting to block access to a store qualifies as an act of terrorism. If you heard a news flash of a terrorist attack in Chicago you wouldn't expect to see that it just involved people having difficulty getting to Aldo for a Black Friday sale (and the article notes that last year access to stores were not completely blocked, police helped shoppers and escorted them into the stores).

So you approve of racism.  Well of course you do.

? It isn't from that one post. Squistion is a known racist.
   Not true and I have no idea how you came to that conclusion.

And I didn't say I approved of blocking access to stores - and I feel that those who prevent entry of shoppers into a store should be punished to the full extent of the law. However my point was that it is not an act of terrorism and most people would not call it a terrorist act, any more so than blocking a highway with a protest is considered a terrorist act (if so then MLK would have to be called a terrorist with his marches for civil rights in the 60s).

Where do you come up with that conclusion from what was written?
Isn't blocking access to stores based purely on the race of the store owner a clear example of racist behavior?   And Squisy is defending such behavior.  What a disgusting show of racism.

Once again, I am not and have not defended their behavior. I was making the point that it is not an act of terrorism, or what the average person would consider a terrorist act.

Becoming a thing: the paranoid, insecure, abusive Trump supporter who lashes out at the insufficiently solicitous.

‘I voted for Trump! You lost!’: White Starbucks customer accuses barista of ‘discrimination’

A Florida real estate remodeler said he has been “harassed by people all over the country” since a video went viral showing him berating a Starbucks barista.

He was incensed, he said, that the woman refused to serve him because he’s a white man who supports President-elect Donald Trump.

A witness said the man simply got angry that his coffee order took too long.

David Sanguesa told ABC affiliate WPLG that he and a colleague met Wednesday for coffee at a Starbucks in Coral Gables, near Miami. Sanguesa said he paid for a drink but claims the barista would not serve it to him. His colleague suggested that was because Sanguesa had a Trump sign on his vehicle.

Sanguesa said he viewed it as “anti-white discrimination” — then got upset and lashed out.

The barista was later asked whether she denied service to Sanguesa. “No, I didn’t,” she responded, according to the Miami Herald.

Starbucks said in a statement Friday to The Washington Post that “embracing diversity and treating each other with respect and dignity is core to Starbucks values and something our partners take great pride in showing. We are committed to providing an inclusive, supportive and safe work environment for everyone.”
