John 14:6

Jesus is Lord!
I won an IDP league championship :patselfonback: and now I have to decide between keeping my older studs (like Zach Thomas, Ronde Barber, Jason Taylor, Ray Lewis, and Orpheus Roye) or going with the younger talent. It's a salary league so it's going to be expensive to keep those guys and I wonder how many more years they can keep producing. Plus I have some young studs (Carson Palmer, Larry Fitzgerald, Jeremy Shockey, Jonathan Vilma, Lofa Tatupu) that I'd like to keep building around.

In general, are special IDPs hard enough to come by that you should keep one as long as they're producing? Or would it be a good idea to try trading the guys I mentioned for draft picks?

Well, I would not keep any of the older guys you listed if it means losing any of the younger guys you listed ... other than that, it would depend on your "Plan Bs" to replace them and what you were being offered in trade ...

Nah, the young guys I listed are all definitely staying on my team.Roye is probably a goner for sure. He was the #1 DT but I also have Henderson who was #2. Henderson's younger and I'm afraid Roye will be moved to DE next year. Behind Jason Taylor I have Will Smith and Kyle Vanden Bosch, start 2 DEs and 1 DT.

We start 4 LBs and other than Thomas, Lewis, Vilma, and Tatupu I have Antonio Pierce, Gary Brackett, Barrett Ruud. Ruud will be a cheap keeper and I could probably still have a good set with Vilma, Pierce, Tatupu, and Brackett.

My other CBs are Deangelo Hall and Ike Taylor who both had decent years.

You've got your hands full with your decision on Taylor. On one hand, he has averaged nearly 13 sacks/season the past six years. On the other hand, he'll be 32 next season and the Dom Capers hiring only solidifies the team's continued use of the 3-4. CAUTION ~ I would not be surprised if Taylor is "coded" as an OLB next season. This would be a death wish in my IDP league. I personally traded Taylor for Abraham in my IDP league. IMO, Vaden Bosch is a wild-card. He has two blown ACL's and last year's sack total of 12.5 tripled his CAREER totals of 3.5. I would not feel comfortable with KVB as my #1 or #2 DE.If you can find a buyer for Z Thomas, Barber and especially Brackett, I would jump quickly. If you sell Ray-Ray now, you'll be getting less-than market value. Vilma should essentially be untradeable from your squad. I believe Vilma and Urlacher are 1-2 for dynasty IDP's. Tatupu...uh...you could always get the farm for a guy who maybe over-performed this past year. I can't imagine his value ever getting higher. Think about it.

I like your decision on Roye. I'm surprised he wasn't "coded" as a DE this year, especially since the Browns ran the 3-4 from Day 1. I agree with your decision...I like Henderson MUCH better than Roye also.

Thanks for the tips! Yeah, I actually plan on keeping Ray because his salary's low after missing so many games. And those young guys are going nowhere unless I get a LOT in return.
