I'm in a keep 2 league.. and the rules are a little different. If you draft a player in X round and decide to keep him for the next season his draft order becomes X-1 until he is a 3rd round pick and returned to the redraftable players list.
That being said, in the past its been really obvious to me who you would keep. Not this year.
Keep a RB like Droughns for a 9th round pick with the ability to keep until he is x-1 = 3rd round. Or keep a receiver like Donte Stallworth (10th round) or Givens (12th round).
At first this seems simple. But, the only other keeper I have is McGahee in 6th round. So... if I lock up my roster with Droughns... whats the gain? After the 1st round I'll have 3 RBs. I could keep a WR #3 with #2 potential or higher... and know that I can grab a good #1 in the 1st round.
When you look at the longterm potential and age versus who helps you this year... I'm at a delimma.
Donte could continue his breakout and become part of the TOP 8 receivers. He is fairly young... produced well last year. Although, I'm concerned about his character. I even think Givens could surprise.
So... does anyone have a formula or method? Or should I just focus on this year and look at Droughns as a good 2/3rd RB?
In addition... anyone care to take a guess at what type of stats you see a Droughns or Stallworth producing in the next 2-3 years? Whatever help the board offers.. I'm looking to come up with a good method. Seems like a good article for future publication.
