Even the Transportation Security Administration concedes that airport screening lines can be long and frustrating.

If you have a better idea for moving people through airport queues, the TSA wants to hear it.

In fact, the TSA is offering rewards totalling up to $15,000 for the best ideas for a queuing system.

The TSA has long relied on the age-old first-come, first-served system that uses retractable belts and barriers to guide waiting travelers through checkpoints.

But the TSA has several categories of travelers to screen, including premium travelers, passengers in wheelchairs, pilots and crew members, as well as fliers using TSAs PreCheck program, which offers faster screening for those who voluntarily submit background information.

Putting all of these travelers in the same lines creates confusion and delays.

The challenge, said TSA spokesman Ross Feinstein, is about leveraging innovation and out-of-the-box thinking to find solutions to TSAs most challenging issues.

The TSA will award one prize of at least $5,000 and others of at least $2,500 for the best ideas.

The deadline is Aug. 15, with submissions being accepted online. So far more than 200 ideas have been submitted.

Fire all the TSA Agents and replace them with nude porn stars. It wouldn't make anything go any faster, but who gives a ####?

Boisterous, wealthy women who are less attractive than the porn stars.

They'd definitely give a ####.

Isn't this what tsa pre check is for? Best $85 I ever spent.

But one idea would be to have people who have a higher level of education than a GED, have more motivation than people working at the DMV, and open more than one line while 5-7 of these glorified mall cops are all chatting about where to go out that night.

Just drop it already. They don't check ground crew. They can't really keep you from using a fake ID or counterfeit ticket to get into the boarding areas. They can't even prevent you from showing them one ID/ticket and using another combo to board an entirely different flight. It's all kabuki. Go back to the old way. Same crappy service but far less hassle.

What's the deal with this exactly? I am over these lines.
basically you go to some remote processing office (same kind of 3rd party place that screens for drug tests for companies etc) and you bring your passport or other eligible id and they basically screen you for not having certain felonies etc. you pay $85 and get your number that allows you access to go through the pre check line. Don't have to take off shoes, nothing out of the bag, just put your cell phone through the machine and walk on through the metal detector. It's amazing.

I should add you can find the offices on the tsa site in your area and set up an appt or just walk on in.

So you pay 85 dollars and you are no longer a terrorist? Yeah that seems effective. The whole TSA thing is bull####.

yeah it's a complete money grab like everything else. But I hate the morons working as tsa agents slightly more than money grabs so both the terrorists and tsa won.

Oh I don't blame you for doing it. Makes sense if you fly a lot. What I am saying is it would be easy to impersonate someone who is on this list and walk right through security. It is all such a sham.

The creation of the TSA was a terrorist's dream. Ineffective, inefficient, expensive, and a massive drain on productivity.

This is basically an admission from the TSA that their entire operation is a farce. Awful.

Actually the answer is easy. Open all the ####### lines.

I have never been in an airport with every machine running.

Pre-screening is pretty sweet. It is so nice not having to take off your shoes, remove your belt, unpack your laptop, etc. Just put your luggage through the belt and walk thru. It was like 1980 again

Why do you need my fingerprints to Tsa pre check? I should be able to sign up online and not 250 miles away.
because they want to pre-check you.
And this can't be done online with a background check?
how is that giving these 3rd party agencies any business? I am are they are run by some senator's wife somewhere.Almost as good as the gig here in Phoenix where they make jail food intentionally terrible so everyone uses vending machines...owned by the sheriffs wife.

TSA killed the program that would have allowed that. 3rd parties that would use algorithms to mine data and separate low risk passengers out from high risk. No fingerprints none of that. Lots of different theories on why but usually it's all about the money and who gets it.

1) Have a little video playing about 100 feet before the line starts that slowly explains to every idiot in the airport that they are allowed to prepare themselves ahead of time for the X-ray. That means, for example, take everything out of your pants pockets and put them in a coat pocket or in your carry-on, then have those items scanned in the X-ray machine. Do this ahead of time instead of standing at the conveyor belt trying to take apart your whole outfit and get it into a little gray bin. No one should be allowed up to the conveyor belt until they are ready. I'm all set and I'm stuck waiting behind some idiot patting down his jeans for the 40th time trying to make sure he's got everything.

2) Special screening for attractive women. Frequently the TSA horndogs fight and knock each other over being First! to get to do the nude scan of a hot chick. They'll ####ing wrestle each other to watch her go through the screening machine so they can see her boobs.

3) Another line just for Arabs.

4) Privatize the whole thing and watch efficiency go up 500%.

Yeah how has privatizing jails gone? I don't think they have improved by 500%. Privatization really isn't the answer to everything.

The TSA should consult an expert who has extensive experience at blowing through lines quickly. I recommend Darryl Strawberry.

I do hear that kids in private schools are 500% smarter than those in public schools.

I don't care who gets my money, just make it easy for me to register and I'll do it

Airport security was private before 9/11. Basically, we're getting the same level of competence and effectiveness now for a much higher cost, which is typical of what you get when the government runs something versus the private sector. If it's going to suck, we might as well go back to the old system to bring costs down.

FWIW, I was doing all my #####ing about the availability of the Global Pre-Check. Seems like TSA pre-check has over 250 enrollment locations. Just signed up and have an appt. next week

My company will be happy to guarantee a 500% faster experience for the low annual fee of one billion dollars.

Agreed. TSA precheck is awesome. If you aren't doing this, you should be.
