Browns claimed former Seahawks RB Robert Turbin on waivers, per source. Turbin recovering from ankle sprain, ready in a few weeks.

=Schefter

So there's the transaction: Browns waived WR Terrelle Pryor to claim former Seahawks RB Robert Turbin off waivers.

Makes sense. It's Crowell's job to lose but given his propensity to fumble that could certainly happen and turn the situation into one big mess.

Just like Dallas, I don't think someone who's claimed right before the season will have a big role at all. It's Crowell's job to lose for sure, but if he fumbles, they might give Duke more playing time with Turbin there just for insurance. I see little to no fantasy value (not even flier) for Turbin. Only value is if Crowell or Duke get hurt.

Turbin's banged up for the next month anyway... come mid-October, could be something to see.
The time may be coming....

(RotoWire)Turbin (ankle) practiced in a limited fashion Wednesday.

Analysis: With Turbin on track to participate in some team drills this week,

there's a chance that he could play as soon as Sunday's game against the Ravens

and if not, the Browns' Oct. 18 game against Denver looks like a realistic target for his debut in a Cleveland uniform.

Is he going to play if healthy, though? Seems like Crow/Duke might have a solid RBBC already in force.

The Crowell / Duke tandem has shown zero consistency. I think Turbin will be given every opportunity to prove himself once he is fully healthy, which should be soon.

While I don't necessarily agree that Turbin gets every opportunity (current tandem aren't worldbeaters but are effectively contributing), let's keep this quiet for two reasons:

1) to keep from alerting others to a potential wire steal if Turbin can get a shot and succeed, and more importantly:

2) to keep this from being yet another spiraling-out-of-control 100+ page thread on an ex-SEA RB backup who is likely to see a handful of carries in the next few games.

Don't worry people hate Turbin despite him being an equivilant talent to Michael.

Johnson owner here as caveat...

thought they wanted to develop the Duke, and it's not like he's looked bad (granted, I've not seen a tremendous amount of cleve, but some through red zone and checking out on DTV).

Would seem Turbin would be more a risk to Crowell short term. Longer term, have to see how the guys develop in the system.

Turbin soundly outperformed Christine Michael in Seattle.

Disgruntled Duke owner here asking if anybody thinks he's underperformed for his role of catching the ball? Seems like he's done his job given the amount of opportunity he's been given so far. What are the opinions of others (not that any matter other than that of his bosses)?

Did you see Dukes last game?

No, I only saw his stats. 8 rushes for 31 yards (4 ypc) and 9 receptions, 85 yards, 1 TD on 10 targets. A PPR stud.

So you're disgruntled about him being a PPR stud? That makes no sense.

Calling Duke Johnson a PPR stud is a massive reach at this point in time.
