Another day, a new contest! I just thought this one up earlier this morning while I was trying to pass the time at work. I call it the "Twizted Fantasty Playoff Pick'em". Yes, twizted with a z, not an s. That makes it cool. Anyhow...
Here are the rules:
1. The entry fee will be $3/entry. You can have up to 3 entries. I am not sure how much interest it will garner, but I am going to ask as many people as I can.
2. The first part of the contest is simple enough, just like a lot of other pick'em contests--you simply fill out a playoff bracket with who you think is going to win each game through the Super Bowl. You get 1 point for every game you choose correctly.
3. Next, there are bonus points involved. Each round of the playoffs has a certain number of bonus points you can use. You may divide them up amongst the games for that round however you like; they can all go towards one game or they can be divided up evenly. If you win the game(s) that you attached bonus points too, you win the 1 point for the correct guess PLUS the bonus point(s). If you do not attach your bonus points to a game, you cannot win them. The following is a breakdown of how many bonus points will be available each round:
WildCard Round - 4 points (avg. 1 point per game)
Divisional Round - 8 points (avg. 2 points per game)
Championship Round - 6 points (avg. 3 points per game)
Super Bowl - 5 points (avg. 5 points per game)
3. Here is where the "twizted fantasty" part comes in. You have to pick one player from each team playing that week (QB, RB, WR or TE). The players that you pick are going to score fantasy points (standard scoring, like most of the contests we have done this year). For every 25 fantasy points your players accumulate for that week, you get 1 playoff point (which is equal to getting a game right).
4. Each round is accumulative with the round(s) before it. Your score becomes a running tally through the Super Bowl. Even if you choose a team to get to the Divisonal round, Championship Round or the Super Bowl and they don't make it, you can still choose fantasy players and possibly make up some of your points.
Here is an example of the entire contest, just so there is no confusion:
Wild Card Round: Team X vs Team Z, Team A vs Team B, Team L vs Team K and Team P vs Team T.
I choose Team X, Team B, Team L and Team T to win. I choose to put 2 of my bonus points towards Team X, 1 towards Team B and the last 1 towards Team T. I choose 3 QBs, 2 RBs, and 3 WRs from the 8 teams combines (one player from each team).
Team X, Team B, and Team L all win while Team T loses. I earn 1 point for each team I correctly predicted to win (X, B and L) for a total of 3 points. I then earn the bonus points I placed on each team that I chose to win (2 points for X and 1 point for B.) for a total of 3 bonus points (I do not get the any points for Team T since they lost).
Next, my 8 fantasy players get added up and they score a total of 223 points. I would get 8 points for them (223/25).
So, my total points for the first round would be 14 points. This score would then get added to my score for the next 3 rounds and then the highest score after the Super Bowl would win. Even though I picked Team T and they lost in the first round, I can still pick fantasy players from the team that took their spot in the second round.
If anyone has any questions, post them here or PM me. If you are interested, post here or PM me. I know the playoffs are a month away still, but I wanted to get this out there early so everyone could look at it and decide. There will be a 1st and 2nd place payout at the very least and possibly a 3rd place payout if enough people are interested.
Thanks!
