Two Hours of Live Audible Tonight 7/22 10 pm Eastern (1 Viewer)

Hi guys! Quick quesstion regarding a trade offer made to me in a dynasty ppr, ipd start 3 wr league.

I have been offered Brandon Marshall and Sam Bradford for Larry Fitzgerald.

I am a little concerned with the character issues surrounding Marshall... And just love Fitz, but being a Ram fan, this is intriguing!!

relevant roster includes

Schaub, Freeman, Moore

SJax, J.Stewart, R.Williams, A.Foster, L.Maroney

Andre Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Reggie Wayne, and some pretty good depth..

Owen Daniels, Shockey, Aaron Hernandez

As always, thanks so much, love the crap out of this show...

Real simple question guys: As your No. 2 RB in NON-PPR this season, who would you choose out of Shonn Greene or Jamaal Charles? They're virtually back to back in all of Footballguys rankings. Hearing good things out of Chiefs re: Charles, not hearing much out of Jets re: Greene; makes me worry Greene will be in more of a committee than we all think. I would like to address two of the concerns you've both voiced over these players:

Concern 1) Jamaal Charles beat up on easy defenses last year - I agree, but his schedule doesn't look any tougher this year(SD,CLE,SF,IND,HOU,JAX,BUF,OAK,DEN,ARI,SEA,DEN,SD-14,STL-15,TEN-16) and Greene's schedule is much tougher(BAL,NE,MIA,BUF,MIN,DEN,GB,DET,CLE,HOU,CIN,NE,MIA-14,PIT-15,CHI-16);

Concern 2) Greene just gets beat up - LT seems like an adequate shortterm handcuff given the situation. I have no problem spending whatever pick would be necessary as all other needs are met.

Need a definite answer between these two. Thanks guys.

High Risk / High Reward Players

What is your take on the following players which some sites rank inside the Top 10 in there position, while other sites rank them out of the Top 20, are they worth the risk? Any other player come to mind?

- Top 12 QB? (Matt Cassel / David Garard)

- Top 12 RB in PPR? ( Matt Forte / Ricky Williams)

- Top 12 WR in PPR? (Hines Ward)

- Top 12 D including ST TDs? (CHI / NO / CLE)

Which CHEAP RB3 do you like the most?

- Justin Forsett

- Ahmad Bradshaw

- Michael Bush

- Ronnie Brown

- Cadillac Williams

Love the show fellas!

Two questions on a Startup Dynasty - 12 Team PPR with IDP

1) I am picking from the 1.10 spot. I value WR's much more than RB's in startups and am thinking Fitz/Calvin at the 1.10 but it looks like the value may be in A. Rodgers. Any specific strategies you two have addressed in startups (i.e WR-WR, QB-WR, etc)? If so what has worked out best in your minds?

2) First time actively participating in an IDP league. At what point do you start to target defensive players (round 8-9)? Also I know LB's will score you the most points but are stud DE's the way to go earlier or should I be targetting Beason, Willis, etc? Any insight you can add for a rookie IDPer would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

In terms of long-term value, who would you want on your dynasty squad, .5ppr

Laurent Robinson

Mardy Gilyard

Jacoby Jones

Chaz Schillens

James Jones

Brandon Tate

Also, there has been a good amount of talk about Brohm getting first snaps in OTAs and minicamps, and he seems to have a legit shot at getting the starting job. What are your thoughts on his ability to beat out Edwards and Fitzpatrick?

Everyone strives not to fall into group think or let the past define future expectations. But EVERYONE has areas of white space where that kind of thinking impacts them, even if they don't realize it. One area I think this most often occurs is the presumption of total offensive run/pass balance. Most people assume that what a team did the year before is a baseline and that they will tweak it a bit from there, give or take, based on what the team has added or lost over the offseason. Yet those assumptions can lead to very faulty thinking.

For example, the Colts threw more than 600 passes last year, yet that's far from the norm under Peyton Manning. The team typically throws around 550 passes, a pretty significant bump down if you're trying to figure out the productivity of tertiary weapons like Pierre Garcon or Austin Collie or Anthony Gonzalez.

So my question for you guys is...which teams do you think can have SIGNIFICANTLY different run/pass balances this year versus what they've done last year or in recent memory?

Would love to hear some thoughts on CJ Spiller and if he can get 150-200 Carries in a Chan Gailey offence.

Also Gailey usually goes with a bell cow in his offence - will he do it in Buffalo as well?

I am involved in a Start 2QB dynasty league. Of the following QBs, who would you select first in a format like this (PPR league if that matters). Also, who are the 2010 versions of Matt Moore, Chad Henne, and Josh Freeman?

Clausen

Tebow

McCoy

Brohm

Nate Davis

Whitehurst

What are your thoughts on Donald Driver and by extension James Jones and Jordy Nelson? Does Driver finally hit the wall?

Hey guys your favourite Canadian FBG member here. Love all your insights and strategies that you share, have a question about.......

Which RB's after the big 4 (MJD, CJ, ADP, Rice) are the safest first round picks in a PPR Redraft?

Gore, Jackson, Turner, DeAngelo?

Gore could be classified as an injury waiting to happen

Jackson plays on the Rams and could wear down any day

Turner not a huge PPR guy

DeAngelo has Stewart there sharing carries.

p.s. - no love for the CFL? You know Nik Lewis WR of the Calgary Stampeders would be a top WR in the NFL right?

How would you rank the following RBs that should be available for me? I have 3 picks in our first round so I should be able to take 2-3 of them. Keeper value is important but with my keepers I can win this year so now points must be considered also. I may diversify in that respect.

(5 keeper/10 owner/TD heavy/milestone/non-PPR)

Jacobs

Barber

Michael Bush

Forsett

Don Brown

Tate

Hardesty

Thanks for your thoughts and love the show!

Let's assume the Vincent Jackson holdout goes into week 10......I still see SD throwing the ball a ton....what are your thoughts on Naanee....does he become the WR2 behind Floyd.....?....and is he worth taking a shot on, or does it just mean that Gates gets more balls forced to him? Naanee seems to have some skills, does he finally bust out and is this part of the reason SD is playing hardball with VJ and not signing a guy like TO?

Thanks...great show.

also......if it comes down to it.....Kolb or Cutler?

I am in a deep (16 team) league that has gone insane for quarterbacks since changing passing TDs from 4 points to 6. Last year 12 QBs went in the first 3 rounds and *19* went in the first 5 rounds. I am drafting at #10 and if Brees & Rodgers are gone I see two choices: either slightly overdraft a guy like Manning, Romo or Brady, or wait and go for a QBBC later. The problem is that to even get a tandem like Roethlisberger and Stafford I would have to take them in the 4th or 5th round. Is the extra value I would pick up at other positions while everyone else is scrambling to get a QB worth the risk? Thanks as always guys.

Mr. D

Gentlemen,

Great show as always. Fantasy crack-cocaine it IS!

Question regarding Performance Leagues. I'm a 12-team League that is QB-Heavy (6 pts per Passing TD). Both QBs and RBs also get bonus points if they hit certain benchmarks (like QB 3 pts at 300 yards passing, 4 pts at 400, etc).

I'm thinking even though this IS a PPR League I'll have to take a top QB and two RBs with my first 3 picks in order to be competitive.

My question is about Rounds 4+; as this League also awards points for Return Yards, what kind of WRs would you be targeting? I could be missing out on the top tier of WRs, but can I make it up by drafting WRs that work on Special Teams too? Or, do I load up on RBs alongside all of the other owners? Do you have any other strategies you might employ?

Thanks for the help!

Hey guys, can't tell you how much I appreciate the audible and the effort/enthusiasm/analysis you both bring to every show.

I'm currently slow drafting in a .5/RB 1.0/WR 1.5/TE PPR - best ball league that starts 2QBs, 4RBs, 4WRs, & 2TEs every week (25 rounds).

I've virtually ignored the QB position because of exceptional value falling to me at the other positions, but this is a 2 QB league and now I'm in trouble. My team is stacked almost everywhere else (AndreJohnson, Fitzgerald, Miles Austin, Witten, Finley, Pierre Thomas, Reggie Bush, JStew, Beanie Wells), but all that remains are a lot of UGGGGLEEE QB options.

I took Matt Stafford with my last pick and will probably look at two more QBs at the 12/13 turn. It's also likely that two or more of the following nine will be snatched up before I get to draft again. So, in what order should I target these QBs, and whose upside do you think has a good chance to outproduce their ADP?

Big Ben - clear cut #1 of this group if it wasn't for the 4-6 game suspension, and I could grab Leftwich later to cover missing weeks

Vince Young - intriguing upside, no?

Alex Smith - Do SF's offensive changes help or hurt Smith's 2010 production?

Chad Henne - Wasn't too shabby last year, and Marshall has to make him better right?

Matt Hasselbeck - is there enough surrounding talent to make him relevant in 2010?

Matt Moore - He at least has smiff and the league's best RB combo, don't expect him to blow up, but safe conservative choice when the others are gone?

David Garrard - perennial FBG sleeper who never seems to make the leap - could be relatively safe pick with some upside though...

Mark Sanchez - Big dependence on running game, similar to Matt Moore, but is he a greater talent than Moore?

Josh Freeman - TB offense has some nice young skill position players, but is probably a year or two away from solid aerial production, right?

I plan on drafting several more QBs to protect the advantage I've built up at other positions. Are there any unconventional QB situations or sleepers you think are worth exploring later in the draft due to the best ball format (i.e. draft Leinart & Derek Anderson late in the draft to lock up the AZ passing game, or a belief that Sam Bradford can surprise and produce QB2 numbers, Etc.)

thanks,

-G

Who would be your pick to stash in a deep dynasty (even a little bigger size than Hot Route) as an out of nowhere WR to contribute this year and possibly get playing time as a WR4?

Settle the Steven Jackson Debate, please. Where would you draft him a 12-team PPR/non-PPR/Dynasty/non-Dynasty?

Quick question about auction drafts, when looking at all these cheat sheets. Is the auction values shown for all these players the most you should spend, or should you add like 5 bucks to the values and have that as your max?

Question regarding lineup management - - - How long do you wait before you pull the trigger on benching a player you drafted to be one of your primary contributors (stud) when he is being outperformed by a backup that you took in later rounds? Example - You have Dwill as one of your RB1's. He is getting you points, but not really going off like u know he should. Meanwhile, a guy on the bench, like a Slaton from a coupla years ago, or Rice from last year is just lighting it up.

How many games must you go with a Rice or rookie Slaton on the bench before you put them in? Caveat***** NO FLEX SPOTS****

Is next season's draft class quite a bit stronger than this current class? I ask because I'm not enamored with any picks outside of the top 5 this season and I'm considering trading out of the first this year.

What is fair to get in return for my 2010 #6 overall pick in terms of future picks?

Can you guys pull David and Matt onto the show to act out Dangerous Picks That Can Damage Your Draft Part III on the air?

Who rises from the ashes of the Oakland passing game. Jason Campbell is much better than Russell. So who is the beneficiary? What type of improvement should we expect with a QB actually converting the occasional third down pass to move the sticks?

Hey gentleman. I'm going to get a quickie from you guys ( in a non wierd way :lmao: ). Where is a good spot to take a chance on Welker this year? He's really hard for me to guage. Thanks guys.

Gentlemen, Big, big fan of the show.I am picking 5th in my rookie dynasty league and would love your take on who you think would help me my roster most.

My current roster

QB – M. Ryan, J. Freeman, D. Garrard

RB – F. Gore, C. Wells, A. Bradshaw, T. Choice, M. Lynch

WR –R. Wayne, D. Jackson, S. Smith (NY), M. Wallace, S. Moss

TE – J. Witten, B. Pettigrew

Basic scoring with 1/2 pt PPR

Forecasting the following will go 1-4 in no particular order:

R. Matthew

D. Bryant

J. Best

CJ. Spiller

If these guys or similar go off the board, do I go RB or WR with my pick?

I was half-thinking Bradford but too early at 5 and a deeper QB pool next year, plus

RB – Hardesty, Tate, Gerhart,

WR – Benn, Thomas, McCluster,

“Mr. Bloom, what say you”

Last year, two players went from 13-15 catches in 2008 to a meteoric increase to 80-85 catches in 2009 - Miles Austin and Sidney Rice.

Name two WR's for the upcoming season that have the right mix of talent, opportunity and intangibles (i.e. maturity) to be this year's Austin/Rice.

In a 2QB heavy dynasty league, how valuable is Tavaris Jackson. We haven't seen him in a while but could he be the latest Favre backup to emerge after watcher the old traitor from the bench for a while...lol.

Also what are your thoughts on the Cleveland QB situation. None are rostered in my dynasty...who would be worthy of a mid round pick.

12 team redraft ppr 1/2/3/1/1/1 and a flex

When mocking for my draft at a late pick, I find myself taking WRs early and often. Is it a terrible idea to wait until the 7th round to take my first RB? In some of the mocks, I end up taking 4 wrs, 1 qb, and a te in the first 6 rounds because I don't think any of the RBs present value from rounds 3-6. Then starting at round 7, I'll start taking RBs like Michael Bush, Bradshaw, Donald Brown, Hightower, Reggie Bush, etc. Is this a losing strategy? I know you can't head into a draft with a set strategy, but at the moment I just don't find any RBs that present good value after the top 6 RBs (CJ, ADP, MJD, Rice, Gore, Turner) are gone. I'd rather take WRs who I find have less risk.

My first question segues into my second. Which RBs do you think represent good value after the the top 6 RBs are gone?

Guys,

First off, I just want to say that you guys are great. I haven't missed a podcast in years, and have been a subscriber for 5 years, my footballguys subscription is the best investment I've ever made.

My question surrounds a keeper league. I'm in a 10 team PPR where we keep guys in the round they were drafted. I start 2 Q, 2 R, 3 W, & 1 TE.

I am already keeping:

RB Jonathan Stewart

RB Pierre Thomas

WR Anquan Boldin

TE Antonio Gates

I am making a trade where I can choose two of the following:

Cedric Benson (9th Round)

Vernon Davis (13th Round)

Knowshon Moreno (7th Round)

Lesean McCoy (7th Round)

Beanie Wells (7th Round)

Mike Sims-Walker (18th Round)

I might be able to rework the deal, so how would you rate these guys, keeper wise, 1-6 for my team. With Vernon Davis, I think I will be able to move a TE later.

Thanks guys...you are the best in the business.

Steve

Hey guys!

Camp is around the corner and we have some actual football news! If Schefter is right, Dez Bryant has signed, and for reportedly less money than the 24th pick pick from last year.

I know you guys are high on Bryant as am I, (traded Boldin and Bowe for Nicks and the right to draft Bryant in a dynasty league recently) but do you think his early signing and reasonable contract further indicate that his prima donna reputation is overblown or am just an overexcited soon to be Dez Bryant owner?

Great show guys! I am kind of new to auctions and and am wondering if there is a "rule of thumb" for how auction values relate to the rounds that you suggest certain players be taken. For example, is a 4th round player worth 20% of your budget?

Hey guys - amazing show. In our league we are allowed to keep one rookie on our roster for one additional season. How would this rule impact your RB and WR rankings for players like Matthews, Best, Spiller, Dez etc. Thanks.

I would say 20% is about the cutoff for the first-round, early second-round types. scoring system/lineups/league size make it hard to answer this question - definitely not the same across all leagues.

I would say Bryant/Spiller moves up 2-3 rounds, Mathews/Best a round, assuming that you dont have to give up the original pick to keep them.
