Two RFA Questions (1 Viewer)

Couch Potato

RFAs are tendered at a certain dollar amount and a certain draft pick, and I know there are parameters dependent on what round the player was originally drafted in. If there is an offer and the current team chooses not to match, they get the other team's draft pick. I get that.

But...

1) What is the deadline for making these RFA offers, and

2) Are the picks involved this upcoming year's picks or next year's picks? This year's picks, right?

1) As far as I know, the deadline for naming RFAs is usually the last day before free agency begins, so in this case it was last week and the deadline shuold already be passed.

2) Yes, the compensation (draft picks) would be in the same year's draft. There are four tiers for RFA designation:

Tender amount/Compensation required

$2.562 million/First- and third-round

$2.017 million/First-round

$1.417 million/Second-round

$927,000/Determined by RFA's original draft status

(Those amounts were last year's numbers.)

Here is a LIST of all the RFAs and their designations.

The deadline for acquiring an RFA from another team I believe is April 17th.

The lowest tender this year is $1.01M. The Packers placed this on four ROFRs (Right of First Refusal) RFAs, meaning that because they were undrafted and received the lowest tender, Green Bay will receive no draft pick compensation for them.

The second lowest is at $1.545M/2nd round pick.

If what I understand of the Collective Bargaining Agreement is correct, once it expires, there will be no more restricted free agency.

Thanks guys. I thought it was this year's picks, wasn't sure. And it was the April 17 deadline I was wondering about. So there's about 2 weeks a team has between the time they get draft picks due to losing a RFA to another team and the draft.

Thanks again.
