Thigpen had some issues early on, but once they went to the spread O he looked much better. I realize there is no one in place in KC(for 2009) on the offensive side of the ball, but if Pioli prefers the NE type of system. Wouldn't Thigpen fit very well in a NE Spread type offense? I see lots of mocks with KC going QB, but I see them getting help on the D-LIne or O-line. Gailey could stay, but who knows.

thoughts?

They have so many needs on defense, and with no clear cut Franchise QBs, they would be smarter to bring in a vet QB, and maybe draft a qb in the 3rd/later rounds, and spend their picks on the front 7 on D.

I've heard KC fans refer to him as "Fools Gold". He puts up good stats but makes some very questionable throws in the game.

He was a 1st year starter, as he got more comfortable...he played better. He played well enough to win games. I think it's a good idea to draft a franchise QB, but not sure if that guy is a part of this class of rookies. They need help upfront on both sides of the ball. Gailey should be kept, he made great strides with Thigpen. He's proven to be very capable given a bad situation. they have a nice WR/TE, and he figured out that in order to be successful you feed your horses...some QB's never figure that out. He picked it up pretty quickly. I also believe they may have found something with Bradley as a potential WR2. The youngest team in the NFL could use some solid verteran leadership, and given their cap situation...they have the resources.

I don't get the fool's gold comment, this was his first year on a roster (not on practice squad), and he's coming from a small school. I'd say he did pretty good

I have to agree that I don't quite understand the fool's gold comment. For a guy in his 1st year as a starter he really impressed me at times.

I think Thigpen showed some ability and with some help around him could be a decent QB

Their concerns shouldn't be the help around him, but his inconsistent decision making and accuracy. I think his ability to overcome these will eventually determine his success.

I live in KC, and just from people I talk to and what I hear on talk radio, it seems to me that people around here were pretty excited about Thigpen. And considering how horrible the Chiefs were this year, getting excited about anything on that team is a pretty big deal.

We need to see who they bring in as coach. If they bring Shannahan in, forget about it, no way that guy can run the West Coast. Just an example.

Maybe that's because Croyle and Huard were the other options. :blackdot:

Chiefs fans were exited for Elvis Grbac and Steve Bono too. It doesn't take too much for their excitement level.

Thigpen grew as the season went on. With the cast around him, and what he was able to do with it, I would hope they just don't cast him off. I hope he will be given another chance next year but with all that is changing ...who knows. I am happy to see Carl Peterson leave. IMO, he wasn't there to win games. He was there to put people in the seats.

Although I didn't get much of a chance to see him play, I would think that being someone successful (perhaps just not as sucky as Croyle and Huard) in a gimicky offense will not assure him the starting gig for next year.
