UFC wagering: no longer stuck with the old thread title. The window to change it is here! (11 Viewers)

Excited for my first live UFC event on Saturday.  Should be a blast, going downtown with some friends and no doubt will run into other people.  Hopefully Dana likes the city as much as he's said he has so far and this won't be a one-time gig here.  They've gone to Cincy and Columbus multiple times iirc, smaller shows though.

Soooo....how do I find JoJo afterwards?  Flannery's Pub (Irish, close enough to Scottish, if you couldn't tell) is right across from the Q.  Maybe her, Eye, and Stipe will go out celebrating after 3 wins.

I just started following JoJo on FB, maybe she'll have after-party info on there. Good luck stalking finding her.

Just a freak show. Slow old man. I give him credit for making this far. I didn't think his broken body would even allow that. I just wonder how (or where) could/would Punk actually win this fight. His BJJ experience coming into training was nothing more than rolling around a few times in his life. Bigger freak show fight than anything Bellator's put on.

I enjoyed UFC doing the Punk documentary. Either Punk's getting destroyed in quick fashion or this will be a very boring 3 round fight.

im kind of shocked that Cockroach hasnt made the connection of the names CM punk and Conor Mcgregor punk...maybe hes warming up to Conor...naaaa

For those of us poor bastards with children, I would assume their will be a stream for this event tonight, yes?

PM's accepted.

Best in the World?

As a massive CM Punk mark, and a novice UFC follower...he's going to get his ### kicked. The training shows I watched made him look horrible. I could even wax him. And my name is not matuski.

UFC 203 is a pretty decent little card. Miocic is completely 'meh' to me, in terms of caring about his fights, but him against Overeem should be fun, though I'm not emotionally invested in any particular outcome. On the other hand, I do want Werdum to win, but can't say I care too much to see the Browne rematch. But again, it should be a good fight. Andrade/Calderwood should be fantastic while it lasts, and the same goes for Correia/Eye.

Mostly, though, I just hope CM Punk gets utterly destroyed.

(Oh, and there's also quality boxing tonight y'all.)

Agree with everything except that it's more of a sideshow than some Bellator stuff.

I'll be bringing a few hundred dollars cash to the bar to make wagers with drunk wrestling fans.  CM looks like garbage.  I think he gets TKO'd.  His only path to victory looks like laying on the guy after a takedown.

agreed Punk fighting is silly, but on the same hand having Gall at -400 is just as silly. Sure, Punk is a big unknown, but the idea that a 2-0 guy who didn't even fight in minor league promotions is -400 on his first fight in the UFC is silly. I don't know if the guy has any way of avoiding how big the moment is for him, and if regular professionals coming over get "UFC jitters" you better believe Gall will

And the freak show is over. Guys got balls but this was no different than having a random joe win a fan contest to fight in the UFC. At least the fan probably has youth and less miles on his body.

Predictable outcome, but not a lot of people have the balls to step into the octagon, especially at that age.  Props to him for at least trying.

Embarrassing moment for the UFC.

This isn't comparable to Lesnar at all, he was an elite real wrestler before he ever stepped foot into fake wrestling.

Cm punk wasn't even a top HS athlete in anything.  He's a wwe clown with no top level athletic ability.

Jump the shark moment for the UFC, sad.

I think he cares a lot about his fights and trains like a mother F'er. He's just a chill dude with tons of confidence right now. And I don't think he comes across as the sharpest knife in the drawer when he speaks.

What happened with Werdum kicking one of Browne's guys after the match? That was one of the most exciting parts of the night. The crowd was really loud booing him during his interview.

Punk getting choked out was perfect and I don't view it as a gimmick or shark jump. Dana did his buddy a solid and let him fulfill a dream, he apparently worked his ### off but it's just not easy to do at age 36. I'd surely rather have all that came along with CMP versus the kind of stuff Bellator throws out there.

Crowd was also great for the entire Stipe fight. Dude has got to have fists of stone. What a beast he is. I can't believe Overeem said to Rogan that Stipe tapped. Rogan was great handling that on the fly. Overeem knew he was a fool because he thanked the city or whatever at the end.

Overall I think you have to pay a pretty penny for the right seats to truly be able to watch the ring the entire time. I found myself looking at Gilbert's monster screen a lot.

Also, the octagon looks larger in person than it does on tv, even when the HW's were in the ring.

Oh, I meant how much I care about his fights. I have no reason to question Miocic's commitment, he's a bad mutha. Sorry I wasn't clearer.

I was wrong. It was worse than some Bellator stuff.  Kind of reminded me of the Hershall Walker fight in Strikeforce.

Did that ref get censured for stopping the Browne/Werdum fight for no reason (other than because Browne's finger hurt?)  I would have liked to have seen that coach get his #### stomped for getting in Werdum's face after the match.  That was over the line.
