And even late-40s Walker was 100 times the athlete Punk ever was.I was wrong. It was worse than some Bellator stuff. Kind of reminded me of the Hershall Walker fight in Strikeforce.

Brock had a legit amateur wrestling base.kind of makes you appreciate what Brock Lesnar did a little more
im talking about how fast he won a belt with no skills other than wrestlingBrock had a legit amateur wrestling base.
I agree Rogan addressed & squashed the issue in about 2 minutes. After that be went on to say he didn't think guys who had their heads pounded in shouldn't be giving interviews.Crowd was also great for the entire Stipe fight. Dude has got to have fists of stone. What a beast he is. I can't believe Overeem said to Rogan that Stipe tapped. Rogan was great handling that on the fly. Overeem knew he was a fool because he thanked the city or whatever at the end.
Not to take too much away from Brock's accomplishment, because not just anyone could've done it but... the HW division wasn't exactly at its best back then. I mean, the then champ was a 45-year old LHW.im talking about how fast he won a belt with no skills other than wrestling
This. HW is very different from the other weight classes -- plus Lesnar was a legit elite athlete in a combat sport prior to ever showing up in the UFC. It's kind of scary to think about what Lesnar could have been of he had started training MMA full time right out of college. Not to take too much away from Brock's accomplishment, because not just anyone could've done it but... the HW division wasn't exactly at its best back then. I doubt he does the same thing if he's a WW.
So, 100K for each year his life was shortened.Punk made a disclosed 500k for his 'fight'.
Haven't read his stuff, so I can't say if comics are for him either. His celebrity status gives him a leg up in the sense that he gets to collaborate with actual artists/writers, though.Punk may want to stick to comic books and wrestling cuz this fighting stuff isn't for him.
Definitely. But that fight was hard to watch. You have to give Punk credit for having the balls to step in the ring though.

Eh. My thoughts on how much credit to give him are generally in line with Jonathan Snowden's, though I hope I'm less of a curmudgeon. In a vacuum, I could appreciate the willingness to test one's mettle, but things don't quite happen in a vacuum. You have to give Punk credit for having the balls to step in the ring though.
you have to respect anyone willing to go into a ring or cage ...its a dangerous sport...bad things can happen...he was exposed in front of millions? A lot of guys just have no business being in the ring to begin with...but they have more balls than most...that = respect in my bookEh. Would you respect someone for jumping into a pool with hungry sharks? Having balls by putting yourself in a position to get seriously hurt doesn't deserve respect.you have to respect anyone willing to go into a ring or cage ...its a dangerous sport...bad things can happen...he was exposed in front of millions? I was wondering why he didn't look scared or nervous coming out to the octagon. He was literally laughing all the way to the bank.Punk made a disclosed 500k for his 'fight'.

I'd give him props if he fought his way up, not for thinking he could compete at an elite level in a sport he had never been tested in.
His speech was also one of the most cringe worthy things i've ever heard.
true, actually blame the UFC more for putting him in a position to get seriously injured. Thankfully he didn't but an average Joe fighting a professional UFC fighter could end really badly.![]()
balls are balls
This will never get old. That 'punch'
Yeah, just disappointing after getting excited for Lawler v Cerrone.SacramentoBob said:Still a good fight.
I kept meaning to record it but never worked up the energy.Man, y'all really really didn't care about that Fight Night.![]()
I mean, I watched most of it and I didn't either. All the same, there were some fun and violent finishes in there.
I really don't see how he could cut to 145 again. I see nobody in that division, outside of Aldo, that is a money fight at this point. So McGrappler is basically never going to fight at FW again?
I`m sure Conor`s shaking in his 1,300.00 Edward Green Inverness Wingtip shoesGOB said:Eddie Alvarez @Ealvarezfight 56m56 minutes ago

I also see that Dana is advertising it is Eddie vs. Khabib at 205. Seems like a lot of posturing to me, and maybe Dana vs. Conner about what he wants to do next. the Eddie-McGreggor fight has been talked about since Eddie's last fight, and Conner has said a few times he wants to be on that NY card. Just seems like posturing to me so far.GOB said:Eddie Alvarez @Ealvarezfight 56m56 minutes ago

I think Dana and Conor are having another spat. It's got to be about Conor vacating the 145 belt.I also see that Dana is advertising it is Eddie vs. Khabib at 205. if Dana is not just posturing, I really do not like that Khabib vs Eddie fight at all. Honestly is even worse then having Hendo at rank 13 fight for the belt. Khabib has fought once in over 2 years, and he fought a late replacement guy and didn't look that impressive doing it. I would think RDA, Tony, etc., etc. have a better argument for that fight then Khabib. And god forbid Khabib wins, we will see a title defense once every 3 years.
yupI think Dana and Conor are having another spat. It's got to be about Conor vacating the 145 belt.
anaWhiteAngryFace:yeah, it sounds to be a real mess. mmafighting has definitely become the tmz for MMA media, but they seem to be on this story. sounds like Conner definitely not injured.UFC tonight reports that Dana White offered Alvarez-Khabib, but Alvarez let the offer expire. Then set the same offer for UFC 206.
Also reported that Conor is rehabbing a leg injury and won't be on the 205 card.
Right after the "special report" Woodley goes on to say he is on the card and thinks Conor will be on the card. (More or less)
anaWhiteAngryFace:
Alvarez is going to hold out for the $$$ fight with McGregor, and won't want anything to do with Khabib who is a terrible stylistic matchup. The UFC has really created a huge mess with the catering to guys wanting fights based on money instead of rankings -- it's really getting a pro wrasslin' type vibe with the call outs and angling for the big payday over just fighting the best opponents. Alvarez and McGregor should both #### and defend their belts against the top contenders in their divisions. If they want to play the moneyweight superfight game, vacate the belts and go for it, but stop holding up the divisions.UFC tonight reports that Dana White offered Alvarez-Khabib, but Alvarez let the offer expire.
