Its not overly unique, but the starting lineup is 1 C1 1B1 2B1 3B1 SS3 OF5 SP4 RPHow does that affect value??My guess is pitchers are HIGHLY valued....you start 9 of them...9 x 14 team league is 126 pitchers in play14 catchers14 1Betc...so you can afford to wait on them correct?

Without knowing the scoring method, I'd say OF value is diminished the most. Pitchers with SP/RP eligibility are probably the big winners. Nobody loves relief pitchers more than me but 56 mandatory RP slots is way too many.

HmmmThought the same thing...We draft franchises and get to keep 3 guys from 2 different franchises...I took the Braves and am keeping Medlan, Kimbrel, and havent decided on the other...but we have to pay their avg auction price from like CBS or something..So the team who took LAA has already spent half their cap when they keep Trout, Pujols, Weaver...(Cant keep more than 2 hitters or pitchers)Its interesting..also get to keep 2 ML's from the franchise and am going with Teheran and not sure on the second...Simmons qualifies as a ML currently, but is he even startable in this format?

Medlen's RP eligibility is a big bonus in this format

And he is cheap...$14 while other starting pitchers like shields and Wainright are $20 or so...

You could look at more pitchers both ways though. You need more of them so they're more valuable, but also 1 pitcher is now 1/9th of pitching stats and offensive player is 1/8th. Normally your lineup contains more offensive players than pitchers so 1 particular impact has more weight. In other words, I think it's a wash and you should draft it like any other league. If I went a particular strategy, I would go studs at the stud offensive positions 1st ignoring scarcity. Get good at 1b/3b/OF in picks 1-5. Then load up on pitchers for a ton of rounds in a row until a MINF has big value. Catcher late.

Thanks for the advice...Couple caveats. Its a head to head points league, so dont think about the categories like in Roto..Its an auction, so draft is the draft...dont need to worry about that kinda thing. My teams are Atlanta Braves and Arizona Diamondbacks..Thinking I will go with Kimbrel $24Medlan $14BJ upton $11Kubel $1Prado $6Putz $6Considering Goldschmidt at $19 or Freeman at $14. Cant keep 3 pitchers or 3 hitters so I have to take Putz...or Kennedy ($14)Only reason I say BJ instad of Justin is saves me 10 bucks and there isnt a monster gap in them..Justin is $21 and Heyward is $19.Considering saving some money as there are going to be some studs in the auction..Josh Hamilton wont be kept, Lincencum/Bumgarner/Cain cant all be kept...Encarnacion and Adrian Gonzalez will be available...Chapman/Latos/Cueto...Hanley/Reyes/Kemp...etc.Plus I can keep Adam Eaton for $1 as a ML'er and he is going to be pretty good...and Tyler Skaggs as a ML and he should pitch.Really on the fence on Goldschmidt

My guess is 1B's will be way overvalued in the draft (assuming this is the first year of teh league?). People will be used to having CI and Util spots and not realize that the 12th-best 1B is still pretty damned good. That's what tends to happen with catchers in our league (12 teams, 1 C). Goldschmidt is right around the 12th-best, i.e. replacement-value 1B, i.e., not worth much more than $1. Freeman is about the same. Justin Upton should have way more value at about the same price as Goldschmidt. YMMV with your scoring but he's about the 10th-15th best OF in preseason rankings out of the 36 you'll start as a league.
Hmmm...so what are you proposing?14 teams btw...so minor tweak to your thinking. Here are my options...Name Team Pos Auction Craig Kimbrel ATL P $24.00 Justin Upton ATL OF $21.00 Paul Goldschmi AZ 1B $19.00 Jason Heyward ATL OF $19.00 Miguel Montero AZ C $15.00 Ian Kennedy AZ P $14.00 Aaron Hill AZ 2B $14.00 Kris Medlen ATL P $14.00 Freddie Freeman ATL 1B $14.00 B.J. Upton ATL OF $11.00 Dan Uggla ATL 2B $11.00 Brian McCann ATL C $10.00 J.J. Putz AZ P $6.00 Martin Prado AZ OF/3B $6.00 Mike Minor ATL P $6.00 Andrelt Simmons ATL SS $5.00 Trevor Cahill AZ P $4.00 Paul Maholm ATL P $2.00 Adam Eaton AZ OF $2.00 Tim Hudson ATL P $1.00 Jonny Venters ATL P $1.00 Eric O'Flaherty ATL P $1.00 Brandon Beachy ATL P $1.00 Jason Kubel AZ OF $1.00 Tyler Skaggs AZ P $1.00 I can keep Skaggs, Simmons, Teheran, and Eaton as my 4 ML's...I think thats a no brainer. Are you saying Goldschmidt and Freeman are a waste of money?

Cant keep 3 hitters or 3 pitchers...Has to be 2 and 1 or 1 and 2So its Putz or Kennedy imo as a pitcher from Az...Putz costs 6 bucks and is a viable closer
