Unique Scoring Rules (1 Viewer)

It seems that although some scoring rules are seen from league to league...there are some that may be unique to only YOUR league...

Let's hear about them.

Which SCORING rules in your league may not be found in any other?

We have a couple of them:

1) While most leagues penalize a QB for every INT that he throws...our league takes it one step further.

Any INT RET FOR A TD results in an additional -5 points taken from the QB.

This rule is awesome! The game is never quite over if the QB is on the field. If a QB is playing on Monday night and a QB is playing on a team the has a lead, everyone still watches.....the game ain't over....and "yes"...games have been lost when a QB throws on the other way!

2) A DEF/ST gets 5 pts for a shutout....with a twist. Each DEF/ST is given 5 pts simply for taking the field. Points are taken away as points are scored against them. Now technically, this is a TEAM category because ALL points count against you...even if the offense is on the field when the OTHER DEF/ST scores...but it goes like this:

You start off with 5 pts. Four of those points are regular pts...one of them is a bonus pt. The bonus pt dissappears along with the 1st points scored.

Finish the game with a shutout...you get the entire 5 pts.

Each time a point scores you lose pts.

You lose 1 pt for each 3 pts scored against your NFL team

4 FG's..or 2 TD's....the 5 pts are gone.

Its kinda cool since its a "reverse scoring" rule. Points are awarded for nothing and taken away for pts scored against you.

So...any unusual scoring rules in your league?

I'm in one crazy league where there are points for just about everything. It's a fun legaue so I really don't know what the exact scoring system is off-hand and I can't access Yahoo FF from work. I think it's 1 pt for 10yds passing, 1 pt for 5yds rush/rec, 1 pt for passing attempts, completions, receptions, rushing attempts, etc. Yes, I did say rushing attempts! Scoring is ridiculous with some players getting 60-70-80 points in a week. To make matters worse, it's a 16 team league....and I picked 14th.

I also see one thing in our league that I don't seem to see in others and I THINK it is because most league web sites aren't set up for this.....That is...leagues are limited in their scoring options by the scoring options their web site offers...

Our web site offers "qualifiers" for a lot of scoring.

For example:

WR's in our league get points for receptions for all receptions starting on the FIFTH catch.....PROVIDED he has 75 yds receiving.

8 catches for 74 yds get you NOTHING!!

Make one more catch for at least one yard and he's gold! With that single catch he'll get 1 pt for hitting the 75 yd mark and get pts for catch #5, 6, 7, 8, and the ninth catch...That single catch turned out to be a 6pt catch. He'll then receive a point for every catch he makes and when he recieves for another 25 yds.

The one thing that my league does that I have never seen anywhere else is “out of position” points. Basically we give 6 extra points when a Qb runs one in or a Rb catches a pass and scores. We also double the amount of points for yardage for out of position. Our yardage is not combined and we don’t start awarding points until 50 yards but once that milestone is hit it is 1 point for every 10. So if a running back gets 70 yards receiving and 70 yards rushing the point total would be 6 points for the receiving yards and 3 points for the rushing.

It really does change up the draft by making running Qbs and Rbs that catch the ball or do kick return duties much more valuable.

this is the most unique non-IDP socring I've ever seen, it's tons of fun and we've used it for 13 years now:

We have bonuses for completions, completeion %, rushing & receiving average, 2 point PPR, tons of Kicker and Defensive extra points as well

We have a whacked yardage bonus system.

For RB and WR -

0-84 combined yds = 0 pts

85-99 yds = +1 pt

100 yds = +2 pts

each addl 15 yards = +1 pt

So if a guy gets 116 combined yards (rush/rec - no return yardage included) he gets 4 pts for yardage (1 pt for 85-99, 2 pts for 100 yards plus 1 point for the addl 15 yards).

QB is similar 0-249 pass/rush combined yards = 0

250 = +3

each addl 25 yds = +1

I don't know if the rules for this league can be beat.

It's the most unbalanced scoring system I've seen. Hopefully there will be some changes in the offseason.

Rules for QB, RB, WR, TE

Number of Passing TDs 1-10 20 points each

Passing Yards 1-999 .5 points each

Pass Attempts 1-99 2 points each

Pass Completions 1-99 4 points each

Pass Interceptions Thrown 1-99 -20 points each

Passing 2 Pointers 1-99 4 points each

Number of Rushing TDs 1-10 20 points each

Rushing Yards 1-999 1 point each

Rush Attempts 1-99 1 point each

Rushing 2 Pointers 1-99 4 points each

Number of Receiving TDs 1-10 20 points each

Receiving Yards 1-999 1 point each

Receptions 1-99 3 points each

Receiving 2 Pointers 1-99 4 points each

Fumbles Lost (to Opponent) 1-99 -10 points each

Rules for PK

Passing 2 Pointers 1-99 4 points each

Rushing 2 Pointers 1-99 4 points each

Receiving 2 Pointers 1-99 4 points each

Length of Field Goal Made 0-20 8

Length of Field Goal Made 21-30 13

Length of Field Goal Made 31-40 18

Length of Field Goal Made 41-50 28

Length of Field Goal Made 51-60 38

Length of Field Goal Made 61-110 103

Number of Field Goals Missed 1-99 3.0 points each

Extra Points 1-99 3 points each

Extra Points Missed 1-99 -10 points each

Rules for DT, DE, LB, CB, S

Number of Defensive Fumble Recovery TDs 1-10 40 points each

Fumble Recoveries (from Opponent) 1-99 10 points each

Tackles 1-99 5 points each

Assists 1-99 3 points each

Sacked a QB .5-20 10 point for every .5

Safeties 1-99 10 points each

My favorite rule is -5 points for a missed PAT (in a league with pretty standard scoring, 1 pt/10 RuReYds, 6 pt TDs, etc.)

Kicker's get so many free points anyway, and they have no business missing a freebie. Since it can affect a game significantly in the NFL, it should crap on your FF day, too.

Our defensive scoring is unique. Most defenses lose points each week.

-.02 PER PASSING YARD ALLOWED

-.05 PER RUSHING YARD ALLOWED

.01 PER YARD ON TD RETURNS

.02 PER YARD ON INTERCEPTION, FUMBLE & PUNT RETURNS

.10 PER OPPONENT PUNT

.50 POINTS PER SACK

1 POINT PER TURNOVER FORCED

1 POINT PER BLOCKED PUNT OR EXTRA POINT

2 POINTS PER BLOCKED FIELD GOAL

2 POINTS PER SAFETY

8 POINTS FOR A SHUTOUT

4 POINTS FOR GIVING UP 1 to 3 POINTS

3 POINTS FOR GIVING UP 4 to 10 POINTS

1 POINT FOR GIVING UP 11 to 13 POINTS

0 POINTS FOR GIVING UP 14 POINTS OR MORE

My league scores field goals as follows:

1-39 yards = 3 points

40-49 yards = 5 points

50 yards = 10 points

+1 point per yard thereafter.

It gets really interesting when it gets down to the end of a game and a 58 yard attempt is made (ergo a possible 18 points)

It makes you kind of crazy sometimes, but adds to the excitement of our league.

In my TD-heavy league, we draft head coaches. 4 points for a win, 2 for a tie, 0 for a loss.

Another league I call the "math league" because scoring is so weird, and high.

All yards from scrimmage -- rushing, receiving, passing = 1 point. 300 passing yards = 300 points.

Receptions = 5 points. Completions = 2 points.

All TDs = 35. All fum/INT = -25. This devalues TDs, esp. in comparison to yardage and completions/receptions.

QB gets his completion percentage for the game added to his score.

XP = 1. FG = 3 + yardage. Missed FG = -10. Missed XP = -20. So XPs are devalued.

Sack = 20. INT/FUM = 25. Safety = 50. -5 per point allowed, -.5 per yard allowed. Any D or ST TD = 35 plus 1 point per return yard.

my defense vs your defense whoever gives up the lesser points scores 3 (six point swing.)

no league managment system known to mankind supports head-to-head scoring rules!

Missed XP= -3

1 point per 5 rush attempts

1 point per completion

between 1 and 5 points on yards per carry <3.0=1, 3.1-4.0=2, etc

between 1 and 5 points on yards per reception <8.0=1, 8.1-12.0=2, etc

FGs also go up as the distance increases with 50 yarders worth 12 and 55+ worth 15

Very high scoring league, start 9 players and scores are typically 220-300 per week. (2 PPR and standard yardage points)
