Update On Cadillac For Week 8? (1 Viewer)

From KFFL:

Buccaneers | Williams Practices, Expected to Play Week 8

Fri, 28 Oct 2005 14:31:36 -0700

Roy Cummings, of the Tampa Tribune, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Carnell Williams (foot, hamstring) practiced Friday, Oct. 28 and is expected to play in Week 8. Williams is listed as questionable this week with foot and hamstring injuries.
The question is How much will he play?
No kidding. Sounds like even if he starts he could come out at any time. I realize that could be said of any running back on any play -but I don't have a good feeling about this. All the positive comments sound way too guarded.

Bump for Sunday morning - can we pin?Keep hearing the same thing (i.e, both Caddy and Gruden are optimistic), but any locals hearing anything? If not, I guess we'll have to wait for Mort/Clayton/Steve Cohen.

With Pittman playing well, and San Francisco being so pathetic, does it make sense to bring Cadillac back this week? The arch injury is best healed by rest, I would think another week would be helpful for a playoff bound team.

Count me among those concerned about how much he will play. Won't be around for a few hours to monitor so, much as it pains me, I'm headed over to MFL to sit him for Kevin Jones. :(

If Fred Taylor is out, I'm going to plug in Greg Jones over Caddy because he plays at 4. If Freddy plays I have no other choice but Caddy. I would like Caddy to be 100% before he comes back, or at least 80 - 90. I guess we'll wait and see. :blackdot:

Thanks - exactly the insight I was looking for.

Buccaneers :: RB

RB C.Williams May Play, But Carry Lighter Load

John Czarnecki, FOXSports.com - [Full Article]

Rookie RB Cadillac Williams (foot) returns to the Tampa Bay lineup, although he may not carry a heavy load.

FWIW the NFL Network reported to expect Caddy to get 20-25 carries.
Against SF, the Bucs should carry 35-40 times, so this means Pittman will get another 15-20 carries, plus some catches. Both may be good starts today.

Many owners may scoff at this number, but 20-25 carries even on a consistent basis, is probably what you want to see. He shouldn't be carrying the ball 30+ times anyway, as should be the case for virtually all RBs.

I can see him getting very limited action because they are going to run away with this football game. Why risk your best weapon when he has a bad tire??? The Bucs win this game with or without Caddy so if I am the coaching staff what decision do I make??? I let him sit one more week.

I would think that him having three weeks off and still being listed as questionable and concerns over him carrying a full load should be sending red flags off. The information I am seeing makes me wonder if he does get 20-25 carries for not only this game but a couple games down the road if his foot will actually get worse. Something just doesn't add up to me, which is why I traded him last week for TO and Mewelde Moore I guess.

I don't see Caddy carrying 20-25 times coming off that injury unless its a tight game. I'd bet Pittman and Caddy will split pretty even, which will impact the fantasy value of both this week. Fortunately, they are playing against the 49ers so the numbers will be pretty decent. I'm just suggesting they won't be very stud like and certainly not what Caddy owners became accustomed to prior to the injury.

Becuase I think they want to give him some action. He's a player, a competitor and they want him hitting on all pistons the next few weeks...I see him getting 15 carries which is enough to make me start him against the 49ers. That could easily be 80 yards and a TD.

This is a good point. After this week, the Bucs have a tough stretch of games, including a divisional matchup versus the Panthers. While Caddy may not get 25+ carries this week, I would think Gruden wants to get him decent work (as long as he's healthy) so that he's in game shape.

You just can't get that game shape in practice.

If the Buccaneers are up 14 or more, and Cadillac gets hurt because he's still in the game, Jon Gruden will have to hire bodyguards 24/7 to protect him from Tampa Bay fans.
