I know Meyer stepped down at Florida to be a better "family man". While that's all well and good, being a Florida follower, I doubt that Meyer's competitive nature will allow him to stay away from the game for very long. His potential health issues couldn't do it. If Denver comes calling (and there is no reason for me to think they will), would he be able to resist? The opportunity to coach at the NFL level is not an every day occurrence. Not to mention, the big story here would be he and Tebow reuniting. They share a special relationship (please no shtick) and I would have to think that would be a huge factor in any move like this. Florida has already moved on by hiring a new head coach, so that door is closed. If he were to coach somewhere next year, I don't see how it could possibly be anywhere else. Any head coaching position he would take at the NCAA level would be a step down and I don't see how any job would be more available or enticing to him than Denver.
It all seems a bit coincidental that McDaniels is fired, and in the same week Urban steps down. I'm not trying to read any more into it than that, but it's certainly worth noting.
Again, this is all complete speculation, but I'm surprised I haven't seen this drummed up anywhere.
Anyone like to share their thoughts on whether this would be a good/bad move, how likely it would be to happen, etc.? Homers and non-homers welcome...
