Ok looks like Adams to Chelsea is not happening. I assume this means personal terms were not agreed upon?

Sky Sports News understands talks have broken down over Tyler Adams’ proposed move from Leeds to Chelsea after the parties were unable to reach an agreement. Chelsea had triggered the £20m release clause. Adams now expected to return to Leeds
This might be the craziest transfer saga ever.

Personal terms were completed with Adams already. He was in London just to do his medical and then sign his deal. I haven't seen any reports saying he failed the medical, which makes me think this is part of the Caicedo/Brighton/Chelsea negotiations. Reports earlier this summer were stating that Adams was one of Brighton's top targets to replace Caicedo should he leave. I wonder if Brighton made Chelsea dropping their pursuit of Adams a part of the Caicedo deal.

This just needs to get resolved. Hell, the season is starting today.
"fortunately" Adams is still carrying an injury- so he'll have to get back up to speed whether it's Leeds or Chelsea Heaving Albion.

I wonder if it as simple as Chelsea taking the $20m they were going to spend on Adams and using it to boost the offer for Caicedo?

I can tell you the one person who hates this and that is Fabrizio...it is ruining his high % of "here we goes" being right :)

It's just insane though.

Personal terms verbally agreed and release clause met... Adams headed to London for his medical. Seems about as "Here we go" as you can get.

Verbal agreement met and Liverpool break British transfer record for Caicedo. Scheduling medical for tomorrow. "Here we go."

Two hours later.... Caicedo decides he only wants Chelsea, told Liverpool he's not coming....

Chelsea deal with Adams falls through... Adams returning to Leeds.

I can't remember this ever happening. Its seems like it's all tied to the Caicedo deal. Which is just stupid. Chelsea bids £100M a month ago and Brighton quick accepts and the whole saga never happens.

This is one of those times its best to just take the day off twitter and check back after the dust settles.

No way. The chaos is 90% of the fun for me.

me too. I only slept 4 hours last night. When I went to bed, Adams was going to Chelsea, Kane was getting on a place to go to Germany and Caicedo was set for Liverpool.

4 hours later it all went **** up.

The transfer business is a funny old game. Who would have thought at the beginning of the summer that Aaronson and Weston would find better situations going into the new season and Adams was left at square 1...

Gigi Donnarumma waited til the last minute to resign with Milan. Maldin and Milan moved on and signed Maignian. Gigi then ended up at PSG.

It's probably for the best though for Adams. He'd be riding the bench most of the time. He's going to a club that finished 12th in the EPL and has spent what over Billion in transfer and wages the last few yrs and hasn't accomplished much? Players not reaching expectations and moeny being thrown around to fix issues that seems like it's more of a upper management ownership ordeal? who wants to go to a club like thay?

Add onto the fact the club is under investigation again. It's just a bad situation.

It's a long season and this happens all the time. I'm much more concerned that Adams ends up in the right place than I am if he misses the first game or two.

ETA - "this" meaning last minute bids, moves, etc. Not necessarily this exact scenario.

Just throwing it out here to not be surprised if Trusty does not start tomorrow vs Palace, he didn't start our last pre season game against Stuttgart so I would imagine that Robinson will start at LCB tomorrow for continuity reasons (given that our LWB situation is not the strongest defensively) with Trusty on the bench, although I expect that to not be a continuing thing for long as Robinson will frankly be a trainwreck at PL level

Chelsea supposedly have agreed to terms with Southampton on Lavia. Also it appears they will match or exceed Liverpool's bid for Caicedo and he'll be a Chelsea player too.

This is probably what caused the Adams deal to fall through as they wouldn't need 3 DMs signed in the same window.

Wonder if this opens up the possibility of Adams to Liverpool?

Yeah who am I kidding? F5 F5 F5

So there's a kid from US playing right now for Burnley. 18yo Luca Koleosho. Started at RM. Turns 19 soon.

Is he on the USMNT radar at all? They said he's eligible for a number of countries including the US.

He played for the U-15 US squad, but has been in Canada camps and most recently with the Italy U-19 squad this past summer.

He can play for any of the three of them or Nigeria. No idea if US is making a push for him or not.

Chelsea are in direct contact with Brighton and would like Liverpool to remove their bid, no indication that has happened, or will at this stage. Liverpool reportedly happy to wait as they believe Chelsea can not afford both players, and have bid on Lavia as a bargaining chip.

James Pearce@JamesPearceLFC
#LFC still in the race for Caicedo. It will all come down to what Chelsea do. As things stand Liverpool still the only club to have agreed a deal with Brighton. [ETA: rumored that Liverpool's bid for Caicedo was so high specifically because Chelsea can't match it under FFP rules.]
No way to really know what's going on, but I have a feeling things are legit acrimonious between LFC and CFC at this point. Possible both have made bids to help Brighton get what they want, and screw/counterscrew each other in the process.

He has impressed me today for a 18yo in the PL. If he keeps this up, he's getting a camp call soon. I was reading he had very few minutes in LaLiga last season, but Burnley saw enough to purchase him. One to keep an eye on for sure.

I believe he is youth cap tied to Italy so the only way he can represent the US (or Canada) is to put in his papers for a one time switch.

USMNT Only

@usmntonly

The USMNT's opening game at the 2026 World Cup will reportedly be held at SoFi Stadium. The final is likely to be held in the Arlington/Dallas Area.

How did Turner look? I saw the general stats which showed he was busy.

Very tough first game of course, on the road to a top team, and barely knowing your new teammates names much less how they play in front of you...

First goal was deflected, otherwise I think he would have stopped it. Nobody was stopping Saka's worldie. I'm not versed enough to know if Turner was in the right place to begin with but I think he was. He made a nice save to keep Forest in the game after those. Looked poised overall, I thought.

Balo doesn't dress
Not only is this escalating my frustration, I also have no one to blame.

I understand Arsenal does not want to let him go undervalued and I understand Balogun wanted to get his career going with out another loan stint.

If we finally have a quality number 9 and he does not even get to dress when healthy for an extended period, it is going to drive me bonkers.
