US Men's National Team (6 Viewers)

hmm not sure if this is a good or a bad thing, but this is the first sign I have seen of Cavan being a diva............

I'm not sure I'd call this FK the "perfect assist" - maybe its tongue in cheek but he's surely shooting on goal.
I thought he was trying to put it on someone's head. Didn't have the power to really try and shoot on frame.
Shirley you must be joking.

Pretty clear inswing driven into the box to get somebody's head on it. Not a shot.

I wonder if the other guy was a righty and cavan wanted the inswing instead (if that played into it more than just "mine")

very cool! (y)

Very true...

"The energy level was low," Dest, who was born to a Dutch mother and American serviceman dad, told FOX Sports in an exclusive interview. "We're a good team, but we all know that we're not the best individually. Our biggest strength as a nation is intensity, chemistry and playing together and working hard for each other. If we don't do that, we won't win many games."

I think the other player was David Vasquez , US youth national team player, who is also a lefty.

And he's not just some guy. He was the Golden Boot winner in the U20 CONCACAF Tournament this summer.

Milan today at 2:30.

Dortmund too... Sounds like Gio is ahead of schedule for a return, but likely not today. Maybe for international break. If so, I'm torn- would like him training with Poch, but also want him training with his club so he can fight his way back into PT.

I wonder if Milan going old school with two traditional strikers is catching their opponents off guard? Great to see Pulisic staying involved as an old fashioned wing half.

Pulisic remains on a goal contribution (Goal or assist) a game with 4 goals and 2 assists in his first 5.5 games.

So it begins...

If he finishes with 20+ G/A again this year he'll be one of the hottest names on the rumor mill next summer IMO. I kinda hope he stays at Milan though. Team seems to fit him very well and the Rossoneri seem to love him.

I think Liverpool end up keeping TAA. I'm less clear about VvD, though hopefully the great start to the season will convince him to re-up.

But IMO it's a foregone conclusion that Salah is leaving. Like 100%. So someone like CP would be a great fit. Pacey winger who can stretch the field and create 1v1, can partner with the rest of the front-line to unlock Ds, sees killer passes when they're available, good finishing. Would love to see it -- even as a Liverpool-first fan. (ETA: If he can stay healthy.)

ETA2: 16G + 10A in 3100 minutes is quality. Especially if he's not taking PKs.

Since Pulisic arrived in Serie A over a year ago, he is the #1 player in Goals + Assists across the entire league. Just incredible............
And yet from reports from the game watchers they are unbearable to watch play.
They've looked better the last two games...at least something clicking organizationally.

For fun to watch, Im watching PSV where Tillman and Pepi get the starts.

Richie not dressed again as the former injured players are all back and healthy.
Ah... Wondered .. A- why he was starting in the first place, and B- why he's disappeared.
Too bad- he did well and was growing into some confidence, especially going forward and finding relationships.

He's already in the rumor mill as a potential replacement when Salah leaves Liverpool. Obviously, the rumor mill means nothing in September when we're talking about what will happen next summer, but those reports came out this week.

I watched the first ~70 minutes of the PSV game. I thought Tillman played great in the first half today. Subbed off at halftime, presumably to rotate/rest for Tuesday's Champions League game. Despite his goals, I thought Pepi was just ok. Didn't create much with his touches and was the intended target for a lot of bad crosses in the first half. One thing I don't love about how he's playing...when he gets the ball with his back to the goal, he's just one touching it back to someone automatically. If he can't find anyone available for a more productive pass, I'd like to sometimes see him dribble laterally or try to push past defenders.

The more I watch Tillman, the more I think he's a like-for-like substitute for Reyna. Not as high a ceiling (although still pretty high), but just really similar playing style. That said, their strengths and weaknesses are so similar that I'm not sure they could ever play together effectively.

True... Andy's post in your quote is one of those reports.
I keep thinking Klopp is still there and it would be great for CP to reunite. Oh well. How would CP do on that team? I haven't been watching Liverpool.

I think you can likely remove Pomykal from this list. Unless he has a miracle recovery from yet another knee surgery, coupled with a late renaissance to his career, he has very likely missed his window to be a national team player.

Hoppe probably should not be on here either. He barely played for a terrible San Jose team in MLS last year and this year as a 23 year old, he has been put in a U21 league in England.

I would add in Quinn Sullivan and McGlynn

Thanks - edited to take all of those suggestions.

Paxton Aaronson with the game winner for Utrecht today!

Interesting that he came on at half time, while Booth only made a short appearance near the end of the game. Aaronson has consistently been getting more playing time. I assume they play similar positions. Really surprised how little playing time Booth has been getting this season, given how dominant he's been for stretches of the previous two seasons.

Goal for Cavan for Philly 2

What shocked me about this is isn't the 14 year old with the finish - it's the guy carrying the ball - that's 2007 centerback Neil Pierre. He's 6'4" at 16 and moving like that!

Just a few months ago Marcus Chairez rated Pierre the #1 player in the 2007 class (ahead of Miller). He hasn't made his MLS debut yet and he wasn't called up for the U20 Championships so I haven't seen him. But wow, that's an athlete.
