I can name two - Andy Moeller and Matthias Sammer. Although they probably hate sammer now after what he did to bvb while at Bayern. So really just moeller.

From a US "longterm" point of view, I hate it.  Chelsea are "known" for two things:  Changing managers and loaning out players. The PL is a big step up from the Bundesliga in terms of the physicality.  Naby Keita is 23 and tore up the Bundesliga and he's had some real struggles adapting.  

So I'd rather he goes to a team that is going to be patient with him and let him learn.  Tottenham, Arsenal, even Manchester United!  City and Pool are probably too loaded up top for him to make an impact, but the coaching he'd get at either place would be second to none.

they've been inconsistent from what I've watched, so it's hard for me to gauge. but in that time, they've been capable and open to letting 'er rip... something jose never seemed happy to do. considering Kante is playing wide- and getting involved in attack- I don't see why a better attacking option like CP would suffer here. (and hopefully push Kante back into the middle)

I think it says a lot about Sarri that he has the best midfield destroyer in world football and he's trying to get him involved in the attack.

I will tell you this...expect Sarri to ##### & moan when/if his team doesn't achieve the desired results.  I love his style of football, it's just that it doesn't translate well without squad rotation, hence requiring depth (which he had at Napoli, but chose to ignore it), but I'm sure he will soon pull a Pontius Pilate if results dont fall in his favor.  Plus, the English touchline ban on #### dont help him either...

I hate it. But I get the sense he's enamored with jorginho, and knows he has to have Kante on the field because he's too good not to. It may just be that he doesn't have all the parts to his puzzle yet and CP may be an integral component.

I liked how Napoli played going forward in his time, but never really payed attention to how they got it done. Other than that, and allowing Hazard to let it rip, I can't tell too much more about his tactics.

Chelsea are also known for spending big and winning titles.

Let's try to imagine what Pulisic's list of goals or "pros and cons" looked like as he weighed different clubs.  He had all the leverage with BvB, and could more or less pick his destination from the clubs who were interested.  I don't think Spurs were on his list, just because they were never reported to be interested, but let's assume for the hell of it he can pick from any club in the world.

I don't think, "doesn't loan lots of players" is on his list of cons.  A club that pays for CP is not going to loan him.

How high is "doesn't change managers" on his list?  If that is very important to him, he made a bad choice. He'd also want to cross out clubs like Real Madrid, Barca, Bayern, Juventus, United and Liverpool.  Honestly, he might want to find a new sport to play. Arsenal had Wenger an unbelievably long time, but the current guy is still in his honeymoon phase and they will turn on him in an instant if he doesn't get results.  Pochettino has been at Spurs 5 years, which is a very long time of service for the PL, but before him they had two one-year guys in Sherwood and AVB.

How high is "club will be patient with me and let me learn" on his list?  If that was high on his list, he'd probably want to eliminate the top 20 clubs or so in the world.  I personally don't think any top player is primarily focused on finding a club who will be patient.  I assume he understands the decision he's made and what it means.

What do you think were the most important things to him?  If I were to guess, I would say he wanted to join a top club that would pay him a ton and give him a platform to become a superstar.

Former United States World Cup striker Josh Wolff will be named as new U.S. national team head coach Gregg Berhalter’s top assistant, multiple sources told Yahoo Sports.

A formal announcement is expected in the coming days. Wolff, 41, spent the last five seasons working under Berhalter with the Columbus Crew in MLS. Last October, he served as a guest assistant for interim U.S. boss Dave Sarachan for a pair of friendly matches against Colombia and Peru.

 
Adams had his first full training session with Leizpig.  Hopefully there will be some friendlies over the break for him to get his feet wet.

Pulisic article in SI

On Saturday, Christian Pulisic spoke at Borussia Dortmund's training camp in Marbella as the 20-year-old American star confirmed his excitement on joining Chelsea and how the club's philosophy suits his own characteristics. 

"I've seen their style of play," said Pulisic, speaking to reporters. "I've always appreciated how they've played football, and it's really nice how they play now, with their new coach. It fits me very well."

The USMNT player also expressed his joy at entering a new league but confirmed his commitment on giving his all for Borussia Dortmund until the end of the season. "I've always wanted to play in the Premier League and I'm looking forward to it. As I said in my social media statement, I'm 100 per cent for the rest of the season and would like to have a happy ending with Dortmund." 

"I'm not just here to finish up my time, just like any other player in the world I will have to fight for my position. I want to play and help to make it a real special year for Dortmund."

Pulisic stayed quiet on the rumors regarding Liverpool's interest in him and declined to comment whether th club had made a move for him during this window.

"I do not want to talk about that. I'm happy to have made my decision for Chelsea."

Despite losing his place in Lucien Favre's starting XI for Dortmund, the attacker stated this had no bearing on his wish to leave. "I went through a few tough injuries at the beginning of the season. Players came in and did extremely well. But I think [moving to Chelsea] would have been my decision either way, as I've wanted this for a long time," he said.

The announcement of Pulisic's sale to Chelsea for €64 million ($73.1 million) happened earlier this week. The fee shattered the record transfer fee for a U.S. soccer player. Time will tell how he integrates himself with Sarri's squad but given the constant rumors of Eden Hazard's departure and Willian and Pedro turning 31 and 32 this year respectively, Pulisic has every chance of impressing the Premier League side.

I'm not sure if I should be celebrating the goal, or the fact that we're hearing about goals scored during 6v6 drills in practice in Germany.

 
The RB coach continues to heap praise on Tyler.  I assume this is just to help make him feel comfortable

Basically Rangnick appreciates it more if a player has distinctive special qualities. And finally, there is not a need for personnel in the outer positions, but in the central midfield. But it's quite possible that Adams will be able to earn his first spurs as an outside defender, for example, before Rangnick believes he can play the role of a defensive sixth. "It's all about developing forward in the game, preparing goals himself and shooting," the head coach stressed. Rangnick on Tyler Adams: 

In general, Rangnick pointed out that Adams had become "one of the most sought-after and interesting players in Major League Soccer ever". "Many other clubs would have liked to hire him as well. Rangnick knows best of all that the Bundesliga is a "different dimension" than the American professional league. "But he can make the next step wonderfully with us. Whether it will take two weeks or two months, I can't tell yet. But I absolutely trust him to take this step."

 
This good story on Chris Richards contained an interesting piece.  It is something that I bet does not happen enough in US Soccer but good on Quill (who was Richards coach at the Houston Texans Soccer Club) for making the call especially knowing that FC Dallas had already rejected Richards.

That led Quill to approach FC Dallas academy director Luchi Gonzalez with the selfless offer of sending Richards and midfielder Christian Cappis to FC Dallas. 

“Them coming back to [the Texans] would have been fine, but if they were going to really go somewhere in the game then time was of the essence and I wanted them to move on,” Quill said. “I told FC Dallas, ‘I’ve got these two players who are going to be pros at the highest level. I think you guys should take a look at them.’”

Among large metro areas (>2.5m), the best per-capita producers of male pros were:

1. Denver 2. San Diego 3. Saint Louis 4. Seattle 5. Washington

The bottom 5:

19. Miami 20. Phoenix 21. Boston 22. Detroit 23. Houston

Houston and Miami being this low is a problem given the climates and demographics of said cities.
