US Men's National Team (12 Viewers)

I found this trivia interesting.  At 20 Miazga is only the 6th youngest US player to play in the EPL.

Youngest Americans in EPL:PLAYER, TEAM (AGE)1 Jonathan Spector, Manchester United (18 Years, 5 Months)2 Johann Smith, Bolton Wanderers (19 Years, 6 Months)3 Jemal Johnson, Blackburn Rovers (19 Years, 8 Months)4 Jozy Altidore, Hull City (19 Years, 9 Months)5 *Paul Rachubka, Manchester United (19 Years, 9 Months)6 Matt Miazga, Chelsea (20 Years, 8 Months)7 DeAndre Yedlin, Tottenham (21 Years, 9 Months)8 Eric Lichaj, Aston Villa (21 Years, 11 Months)9 Benny Feilhaber, Derby County (22 Years, 7 Months)10 Brek Shea, Stoke City (22 Years 11 Months)*England youth international
So basically Miazga should start working on his Hall of Fame speech now?

Looks like the talented young Rubio Rubin is coming to the end of his long rehab in Holland.

He started today and went the full 90 for the reserve team scoring a goal and having another goal called back.

Hopefully he can rejoin the top side soon and get his career cranking again.

Forgot about Jemal Johnson... I remember telling myself to remember to keeping an eye on him. Glad I forgot to remember.

Never heard of Johann or Babushka.

BTW, both Bedoya and Jozy were stupid to post anything about the DUI, more so because they un-funny.  If you're going to be insulting and immature at least be funny about it.
I find it sad that MNT members would be poking fun at WNT members at all. You would think there would be a mutual respect. Bedoya just comes off as jealous, since many more people heard of Abby than will ever hear of him.

mutual respect, sure... except for those damned fuzzy ferners.

I had to look up Rachubka, as I had no memory of him.

Born in US, went to England at 7.  He made the England U20 WC team as a backup keeper.

If my count is right, he has played on an astonishing 15 different teams (12 on loan) since 2000.  He is with Bolton right now.

Interesting rumor on the day Rangers won promotion back to the SPL

Arsenal have now made Granit Xhaka their number 1 summer target and also plan to promote Zelalem to the 1st team

Chandler playing regularly might be a stretch of the definition of regular.

He has played the last 2 games for Frankfurt which is a good sign but before that his last game was in December.

He has only played in 8 games all year and only twice went 90 and from what I can remember he has not been hurt and this is for a team in the relegation zone.

@El Floppo mentioned that he had not seen Shea in MLS.  Someone just posted a video on him in Orlando.

He continues to intrigue because very few if any other American possesses his wide range of skills.  I don't know how one can solve the inconsistency issue

thanks for the link. my comment was that I haven't watched him for Orlando this season... I've seen him play in MLS.

lolz though... kinda the lamest "skills" highlight reel ever.
not for an American LB it isn't :)

Also it is worth noting it is not a big body of work.  I think he has only played a little more than 20 games for Orlando (which is what the video was focused on only).

Besler will not play again this weekend.  He has not passed the concussion protocol yet from the one he suffered in practice for the US qualifiers.

Anyone watch the women last night?  I felt duped - I thought it was an OQ, but it was just a friendly. :kicksrock:

While Colombia's back line was horrific, it was fun watching some of the young talent for the USWNT last night.  Dunn looked fantastic in tight spaces.  Even when she lost the ball, she somehow managed to end up with it before the girl who dispossessed her was able to pass it off.  For as good as Heath looked on the wings, it seems like she still hasn't figured out how to finish; she could've had a couple of goals.

What makes this timing interesting?  Is this maybe one of the quid pro quo things Sunil asked for when helping Infantino or are you referring to something different?
Just all of it.  It makes me wonder what's really going on behind the scenes.  You don't get an article like that out of the blue unless someone from the US wants it out there especially since it implicates the FIFA registration system.

yeah I agree.  I think for certain someone at US Soccer cried "foul" here to FIFA and then leaked the story.

Have we lost any of these kids to Mexico?
not that I know of but from reading about this over the past year, many of the kids are very young (they are not yet pros) so it is something to watch for the future.

This dedicated poaching has only come into vogue the last 5 or so year.  They have always poached a little, but the last few years they are just raiding and their whole business model is to go after the parents first and foremost of any talented Mexican American kid.  They have found that they have been able to convince Mexican American parents that sending the kids to Mexico to train is best for their future.

And sometimes the smaller latino kids are getting over looked by our American teams and it makes the sale job that much easier.

Both really nice finishes.
:goodposting:

each one with it's own flair- 1st recognizes the great run by his teammate in front of him and uses the space left by it still needing some good touches and a quality finish. 2nd has great 1st touch into space on a tough floated ball and then good strength to hold off the faster defender so he can get his shot off.

I really hope he can translate that kind of play with the US (he's definitely had some good flashes in the last year), especially an understanding with his teammates. these last two games- you could see the work put in on his part, and yeah, he was pushed wide as you all informed me so not his optimal position- but it felt like he was too much on his own and not combining well with the other guys... or at least as well as he appears capable. not an indictment of him per se, but on where he fits with the other the US players so far. he seems like he could be the Davies to Jozy's.. Jozy.

The problem with playing Wood and Jozy in a 4-4-2 is that means you have to figure out what to do with Deuce.  Play him as the 10 in a diamond?  I don't really think that's his position, and that kind of forces you to play Bradley as a pure #6.  Maybe that's not a 2018 problem, but as of now, Deuce still feels like the guy most likely to get a goal.  I think there are some things that it's easy to criticize Klinsmann for, but finding the right mix to get our best attacking players on the field actually is a tough task.  I'm still not sure what it looks like.

I think you pair him with Deuce and Jozy is a super sub that comes off the bench.  I trust Deuce over the course of a game much more than Jozy at this point and I think those 2 would pair up better anyway.

totally agree. ideally you have Wood, Jozy and Deuce playing together... especially if Deuce is putting in the effort he gave at home vs Guat. if he's walking around, glare at the ref Deuce like most of the time.. I'm good with him being used as a sub, tbh.
