US Men's National Team (7 Viewers)

What?  Have you seen that Mustachio?...I stand by my statement.  Of course, it's all for the betterment of the USMNT...as in...figuratively & literally, Pulisic will learn how to receive & penetrate better, under the guidance of a senior "member"...instead of being constantly distracted & nagged.  Just my  :2cents:  ...

You understand why it's hard for me to just relax and accept you, right?

1-1 at the half. What is the best possible result for the US?
We qualify with a T&T win.

A draw leaves us needing a win against T&T to ensure qualification, but we would likely qualify with a draw - we are +12 on goal differential (I assume that is the tie breaker)

If Guatemala win, we qualify with a Win or a Draw against T&T

I am assuming we will do something stupid and end up losing on a late goal against T&T.

Nevermind - we can get through with a draw

Current standings:

T&T 11 points  +8 goal differential

USA 10 points +13

Guatemala 7 points +1

St. Vincent 0 -22

So, a draw puts us through, even with the expected win by Guatemala over St. Vincent

That is quite possible...
The US is as mathematically qualified as one can be and not be 100% assured.

T&T is already qualified, they are going to not give two ####s about Tuesday's game and if the US some how let a massive 12 goal differential go up in smoke, it could be the biggest one game turn around I have ever seen.

If fact, T&T might very well want to avoid the dreaded Mexico/CR two game start which could see their hopes dashed before the year ends which means they might have even less incentive to play.

I love to be pessimistic about the US's chances but even this is too much for me to consider.

I was looking around to see who would be in yellow card jeopardy for the start of the hex and saw the Yedlin is actually out for Tuesday's game with his yellow card today.

I was not able to find the information I was looking for in terms of yellow card accumulation.  If anyone has that stat, please post so we can see who might need to be careful on Tuesday.

Mexico gave up its first goal in qualifying tonight.  They are down 1-0 to ELS (@ ELS) in the first half.

This group is setting up to have a fantastic last night.

While awaiting the end of the Mexico-ELS game, Honduras is up by 3 points and 5 GD on Canada.

But in the last game Canada hosts ELS while Honduras needs to travel to Mexico.

The defense is going to look different on Tuesday.  Not only is Yedlin out, but Besler has left camp to be with wife and see his child who was born today.

.@j_klinsmann: "A great moment for Matt Besler with the birth of his daughter this AM. He will go home to be with his family."

25 mins in...

I like how the US is practicing passing the ball to the StV  keeper. also loved the steel drum anthem. also #### thomas rongren

####### rongren. MUTE>

also love the how local feed is showing slo-mo replays from different angles while the play is still happening.

### #### Ruiz............ :)  (note he scored again in this game)

Carlos Ruiz just passed Cristiano Ronaldo to become world's all-time leading men's international scorer among active players. TRI 0:1 GUA.

Near as I can tell we don't have anyone in jeopardy. I don't know when they reset accumulations, but in this round only Yedlin (2), Bradley (2), and Jones (1) have picked up cards.

they're winning and everything (38th min), but I'm still pissed that the US isn't just plastering this team.

there's sooooo much space... ball just needs to move faster and final touch better.

#### is getting really chippy/scary when us players are showing.

well- ####. now the us players are ducking out of challenges. best way of getting hurt, going in less than 100%

We need a Floppo watching whenever he gets to it thread. He doesn't even have to limit it to soccer. Live commentary on a Jason Bourne movie would do just fine. Especially with the pills and booze. AKA, the Kafka Kocktail.

sadly no pills. and not enough booze for this shackery

I hope Floppo really didn't mute Rongen

55th minute, US are getting outplayed in the heat and Rongen says

"I think Klinsmann needs to stick with these players much longer today, and did I mentioned how Bobby Wood cost me my job?"

what's sad is the us players get the ball in the box and just don't have it to dribble, open up space for themselves... has to be a pass every time.

MUTE

I can't take the sound of his voice... ####### incessant.

if somebody can transcribe anything else worthwhile... much obliged.
