Disagree a lot.

6 month age difference is a 5%+ difference in training and development time.

What a kid looks like at 9 strength, size, speed wise is no reflection of what they'll look like later. Matter of fact, usually the biggest kid with some skill is going to dominate these camps at this age. Also we have many more kids to look at than most of Europe. Lastly, what's so great about Europe....England can't win a game and Italy didn't even make it. I don't see a model there that is yielding a dominate program.

I do not disagree with you at all on how kids develop from a young age to what they are like older. I have seen many kids go from short stocky and slow to tall lean and fast by time they are in high school.

England and it is difficult to lump Italy into the bucket nowadays is consist when it comes to qualification and they always have expectations to make a deep run. Discussing England and the world cup expectations is like discussing USA expectations in baseketball and baseball for International competitions and this is where I would love to see US Soccer consistently in my lifetime (not just making the tournament but consistently being a final 8 or final 4). We have the resources to get USMNT to that level but how do we bring it all together.

Tough nut to crack...

1. We have the biggest geographic boundaries in the world.
2. We have one of the biggest population pools to draw from.
3. Football, Baseball, and Basketball siphon off kids at a higher rate than the European countries.

I don't think we can ever emulate Europe. England is packing 20 Premier academies into the space of Florida. Big difference in shipping your 9 yo kid to Tampa from St. Pete than Cape Hatteras to Charlotte.

Have a question. Do you think parents are a roadblock if approached by USMNT Development regarding sending there child at 12yo away to an academy where they have no control over his academics and other aspects of his upbringing and leave it in the hands of the academies.

They should be concerned. Things have changed but there are some regrets on our end for supporting this. At the time it was moving into a teammates home and paying for online school unless you chose to commit a crime or paid to rent a residence in the academy's school district. Our son presented as if he was thrilled and his skill level exploded at 16-17, but he was very lonely. If you make it big, then I'm sure that decision is a net positive. If it's college and done then you end up missing on all the things high school and mom/dad have to offer. I can't speak to the current system, but I suspect that school is something along the lines many college football players experience. For the Pulisic's it doesn't matter, for many it's a missed opportunity to get an education that you need. For many of these kids who identity is being a stud soccer player, it's hard to be at peace and find themselves when soccer is done. The academies care about your soccer potential or what they might sell you for. The don't care much about the men they are producing. After injuries ours hit a very rough patch in life. He's turned it around and is crushing his job and taking classes in the evening to finish his degree and doing side jobs on the weekend. I suspect he'll own a home with his own funds before 25, but going to school for a real degree when you peer group is graduated is a tough pill to swallow.

I realized intensive training is needed for kids to reach the top level. The reality is that soccer is transitioning to tennis/gymnastics at the top levels. Different sports, but baseball/basketball/football all offer paths to the top where you can live at home, go to local school, and get better playing with travel teams and practicing on your own. We'll get our soccer goal someday but there will be a lot of carnage and damaged kids that come along with it.

The HS will remain - they'll just use the facility to practice.

I think the building you're talking about is the sr team's gym; its right there next to the stadium.
 
Pulisic not one of the five subs Graham Potter used today. Not great news, but I wouldn't read too much into it as the first sub was a first half injury and the other 4 were all after the game was 3-0. I was pretty busy with work, but did see a few good moments from Dest. Several good crosses, beat his man a few times.

I did read a lot of comments on Twitter from Arsenal fans saying that his passing was unconvincing. Including one hilarious comment claiming that Turner "was brought in due to his supposed ability with the ball at his feet." It was enough to make me out myself as a fan of the MLS just to laugh at the guy.

At this point, I'm satisfied that Turner should be the starter no matter how much time anyone gets. If distribution is so important, then we might as well get Brooks back in despite all his problems in the other phases of the game. Nobody is going to get all that much work, and nobody is going to suddenly become good at what they're not currently good at. If I have to live with a weakness, I'll live with struggling with distribution over struggling with saving shots that are 2 feet away from the keepers' body.

Easy to say after he’s having a run of good form but of all the 9’s we’ve tried I like him best. And I like his size and willingness to press and track back to win balls or flick on headers. He seems to have a pretty good IQ too.
 
We should send any youth striker with a pulse to develop confidence in the Dutch League. I could probably get 5 or 6 goals over there.
 
I am not so sure it is ever going to "open up" but if it does, wow would things be fun

Miguel Herrera says that MLS is “light years ahead” of Liga MX from a league perspective. That MLS is competing with Spain and England, not MEX. “They buy players in ARG for $20M, players in Europe. And they only have 3 (DP) spots. When the league opens up, forget about it.”

Yeah…. Not sure what else someone would want.. He scored a great goal that was the result if some great 1-2 passing with Mount and he nearly scored another incredible goal that took a world class save to keep out.

He definitely earned more playing time today and I’m sure Porter will give him some.

The one constant is the incessant whining from US fans about Pulisic and Chelsea every single game. If he has a great day, they whine. When he has a bad day, they wine. When he doesn’t play at all, they whine. Today I saw Eric Wynalda crying that … the commentary was unfair!!
