Reports say he's not cutting it for xavi and also not drawing any trade interest. So they're looking at options to get him off the payroll.
You'd think they'd do a bargain basement deal if things were that extreme. Somebody must want him in the cheap... Paycheck not withstanding

He's a soon to be former Barca player, doesn't that mean Inter Miami will sign him?

Coventry sold Gyokeres for twice that to Portugal so have the money, and they're not a bad team at that level, only losing in the playoff finals on pens to get into the Premier League. Seems like a good deal

Edit - and they do like a US striker being the former stomping ground of Roy Wegerle

Seems like the perfect level for Haji as well. If he can show well in the Championship, he'll have big 5 teams coming after him. Or he could even help them get promoted to the PL. Really like this deal for him.

I know sugarman doesn't do this but he's be perfect in with the Union. It's a downgrade from where he was at but if the rumors of Union selling LB Kai Wagner at the end of the season are true Dest would immediately slot in as the LB. He could come in and get accusstomed to the sqaud depth and then routinely start the next season.
 
I assume if Dest gets his contract terminated he could move any where he wants right? Obviously he would be taking a MASSIVE drop in pay.

Would he have to find a team before these windows all close else be stuck out in the wilderness until the winter?

Yes, if Football Manager us any guide. You have to finalize your roster for the league after about 1 to 2 matches.l into the season. That might be right after the transfer deadline. Unless you're talking about MLS where they don't seem to care about such conventions from Europe.

MLS does have transfer windows as well

  • Primary Transfer Window (2023): Tuesday, January 31 to Monday, April 24
  • Secondary Transfer Window (2023): Wednesday, July 5 to Wednesday, August 2

Barca starting what seems to be a mostly 2nd team and Dest is on the bench. Not a good sign and likely points to what Floppo was saying earlier.
 
I want Dest to come to MLS, ball out next summer at the Copa and then he’ll be ready to move back to Europe

but CP wasn't so hot. not a lot of cohesion in Milan... ball goes wide to CP or Leo and kinda dies out there. and I don't get Lotsa Cheeks.

Felt like Loftus Cheeks was always in Pulisic's way. Rather than be in a position where he'd provide an outlet pass, he was always in the space that Pulisic would want to dribble into if he was gonna beat his man. It meant there was nothing but back passes available for Pulisic. It was terrible spacing and I can't believe it was intentional.

I actually think Pioli will switch to a 4-2-3-1 once Chukwueze joins the team and given how little RLC was involved defensively... I think CP will win that CAM spot since he's a much greater offensive threat. Musah seems perfect for this team in the midfield since it seems like none of the midfield can carry the ball.

I find it terribly ironic that the same USMNT takes are now in the USWNT pool especially as it relates to the academies self selecting the most physically imposing youths early at the detriment of the creative types.

My current personal hottest take is that the next great creative USMNT small midfielder will come through college (ie outside the academy/youth USMNT setup).

After the lawsuit and the way that was handled and some of the statements that were made, I was pulling for Portugal to knock them out. It sort of surprised me but that was my gut reaction during the game. I also enjoy watching the rest of the world catch up, I’ve felt the same way about USA basketball at times in the past, but never to the point where I was actively rooting for the other team

I haven't gone so far as to root against the Women's team but have had similar thoughts. I have somewhat rooted against the men's team, mostly when its an MLS based team or GGG is involved :scared: :boxing: And yes, I do hate myself later for it.


As much as it has been fun to see the Women's team dominate it is nice that it has gotten more competitive and a title isn't a foregone conclusion. The early titles have been so much sweeter since they feel earned.

AV came on strong last year so if he actually gets time, could be a good move.
WH is also a good spot after losing Rice.
Please stay away from Chelsea and Forest (only because they may be fighting relegation again)

Horrible exit to the Champions League for Genk
- First leg was 1-1
- 2nd leg was in Genk
- Servette: 3rd min red card
- Genk had 1-0 & 2-1 leads in the 2nd leg, conceded 2 equalizers
- Servette prevailed on penalties playing 117 mins w/ 10 men, trailing twice, on the road
 
Some are saying Dest is official now but I can't find anything formal yet. I hope he can find a new team quickly. He likely will if he understands he needs to take a huge cut in pay.
