Crazy that the seat broker sites don't validate stuff before events get listed. I definitely saw some for the first two MetLife games on either Stubhub or Seatgeek this morning, although they're not listed anymore.

Kind of realized how sketchy these sites are a few weeks ago when I bought some NBA tickets on Ticketmaster that were listed as 'resale'. Bought them like 5 weeks in advance and planned a road trip around the game...and then had to wait until 2 or 3 days before event to actually get the tickets. Ticketmaster support basically said there was nothing they could do, because they didn't have the tickets yet. Makes no sense to me why they don't get custody of the tickets BEFORE they sell them, and why they wouldn't require delivery of the tickets within a day or two or else void the transaction.

Yeah, it worrisome if you're planning a big trip. All the sites "guarantee" the purchase and will refund you fully if you don't get the tickets, but that matters little if I've already got flights and hotel rooms for the event too.

I wonder if this is one of those times you just need to be patient? It would not shock me if a decent amount of tickets are going to hit the secondary market and will crash in price as the game gets closer to its date.

We definitely got an easy group. Should be fairly easy to advance and while I agree Uruguay will be tough, at home, we have to be a favorite.

I know Berhalter has stated our expectations should be semis in 26. For a country that has been to the knockouts in 4 of 6 World Cups this century, that doesn't seem unreasonable when hosting. But at the same time, we've only once won a knockout game. Is it right to set a target to win 2? I dunno.

But if we can't make the semis in a home Copa, I have no expectations that we can do so at a World Cup. But we did in 2016 with a squad on its last legs, so I think we may be underestimating home field.

I think we have to win 3 knock out round games to reach semis (48 team WC means there will be an extra round of knockouts)

oh gawd. I blocked out that they went with 3rd place teams advancing and a round of 32.

Basically FIFA added a bunch of teams and then those minnows will go home and everyone else will play a knockout tournament. So awful. In that respect, we should expect to win a knockout round match going forward to meet the same standards we have been at.

He seemed to be fine. Palace sat pretty deep and he just sort of shielded the back 4 and didn't have any adventurous play. Mostly he played the role of stopper.

Palace were pretty hard done by a soft 2nd yellow and then an injury to their keeper. Prior to the red, they didn't really give Liverpool much though so I guess that means Richards played well. He's not a 6 though and it seems a bit odd playing him there.

And if CP is willing to play Chris Richards as CDM in a massive game against Liverpool, then they must really like what they're seeing, the numbers are bearing it out, and he hasn't done anything yet to lose that position at this point. I'll take it.

He does a good job cutting off lanes, winning duels, tackling. He really has no ability to progress the ball either via pass or dribble. He doesn't turn with the ball at all and basically just pings it back to the center backs, nor is he particularly adept at finding space to give options. The way Palace set up today it's probably fine as they really had no intention of controlling play.

From what I've seen as well as what I remember when he was first coming up and analysis of him after games, his passing is one of his strengths.

Agreed that his dribbling is pretty non-existent.
 
Weston went 92 minutes today (subbed out in injury time) in a solid 1-0 win over Napoli.

The three points again vaults Juventus into first but Inter have game in hand.

His passing as a center back is fine. I think he's overrated there but he's not terrible.

He played 90 minutes today as a midfielder and was 8 for 14 passing. The full stats haven't been posted but in prior games he's been incredibly safe passing and I think in the last two starts in the midfield combined he's completed 4 progressive passes (defined as passes that advance the ball more than 10 yards upfield). I'll be surprised if he even had one today.

BHA would be better but people are sleeping on Bournemouth. They've done excellent business this offseason including pulling the manager from Rayo Vallecano (Andoni Iraola who played for NYCFC). I think they'll be safe right now and adding a guy like Adams and they're probably safely midtable.

The current expectation is that Adams will be back in February. But when he comes back, it appears he will not be in a relegation battle.

After skull-****ing ManU at Old Trafford today, Bournemouth are level on points with Brentford and Chelsea and 10 points clear of the bottom 3. They had a slow start to life under Iraola (and there were rumors he would be sacked), but they're now 5 games unbeaten with 4 wins in that stretch.
 
So two games in a row that Ream is not starting. This time he's not even on the bench but he's not listed as injured. Guessing he may be sick or has a slight knock.
 
So in the MLS Cup yesterday, Stu Holden mentioned that Schulte, A Morris, and T Tillman are in the preliminary roster for Camp Cupcake.

Interesting to me that he did not mention Acosta or Long, neither of whom has been called since El Cashico and Gold Cup respectively, before Berhalter was back. Both are fringe players at best but neither has really aged out.

That's because Long and Acosta have little upside IMO. Those other 3 have potentially higher ceilings.

Acosta is one of the best if not the best American ****houser I've ever seen and to me is/was a must-have for CONCACAF play.

Looks like loads of presumably fake tickets available on Stubhub and Seatgeek. So ridiculous that the sites allow tickets to be posted for an even that hasn't started selling tickets yet.
 
You can register on the copa website to get notified when tickets go on presale, I think there will either be a lottery or an opportunity to buy before it’s a free-for-all

I did this last time and bought 4 seats in Houston which ended up including the Argentina-USA semifinal. I think I went to 2 of the 4 games. One I didn't go to was a Mexico game and I sold my tickets for about 3x face value for that one and the other I sold for face, resulting in going to two games for free.

I also won the lottery to buy finals tickets at the Meadowlands but ended up not buying because I wasn't at all prepared for winning.

Dunno about that. I admit to not having watched a ton of CONMEBOL leagues, but I know those teams aren't filled with boy scouts. I'll stipulate that a healthy Adams mitigates the need for Acosta somewhat, but GGG should still have him on speed dial.

Kind of silly that apparently being nominated for Player of the Year means that you can't be nominated for Young Player of the Year.
 
Male player of the year: Pulisic. I credit his resurgence in Italy and play on the national team.

Young male player of the year: Based on what I've read in this thread about his performances this year, McGlynn. Seems to have had the 'best' year of the candidates listed.
